DIY Backyard Wedding by Claudia McDade Photography

There is DIY, and then there is an entirely new level of DIY. Crafting that puts our dear Martha to shame. Let’s call it extreme DIYing. This, my loves, is extreme DIYing. It’s crafting with style and in a way that makes our jaws drop. It’s shear talent, and if it weren’t for the pretty images of Claudia McDade Photography I wouldn’t believe it could be possible – oh but its, and you can see every last ah-mazing detail of this oh so fabulous backyard wedding right here!

From the Bride…Daniel and I are extremely blessed to have been able to have our wedding on his father’s property in White, Georgia.  Daniel grew up there, and along with his sister and other family and friends, wanted to get married there. We had a goal from the start to stay within a budget..and when I say budget–I mean budget.  You would think that we would have to cut a lot of corners, but we honestly just resorted to pretty much making everything ourselves. With collections of wine bottles from family and friends to gathering scrap wood in the country, we were set.  Painted wine bottles with paper roses and burlap adorned the tables; homemade signs crafted on reclaimed wood gave directions and welcomed our guests.  Children enjoyed the candy bar, while adults played corn hole on our homemade Bride and Groom Corn Hole Boards.  We really just wanted the wedding to be simple, sweet, and enjoyable.

We are both pretty crafty.  I majored in art, while Daniel is just naturally talented!!  Anything I could think of…he would build or make or hang for me.  With the help of all of our family and friends, we made it exactly what we had pictured.  My mother made our wedding cake using my great grandmother’s cake recipe–a pound cake recipe that we have all enjoyed for years.  My sister made the flower girls’ skirts,  and A LOT of family made homemade dishes for the dinner!   One of my best friends and her husband sang Miranda Lambert’s Oklahoma Sky, changing the words to Georgia Sky.  Daniel and I consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have had what we believe to be the perfect Georgia wedding.
