From the Bride… Robert proposed at the Museum of Modern Art in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was as much involved in the planning process as I was — I wanted it to be our day, not just my day! The wedding took place at my uncle’s (Dallas architect Bill Hidell) ultra modern house off the lake. From there, everything just fell into place. Robert and I knew that we wanted to incorporate our love of modern art — my childhood favorite artist, Piet Mondrian influenced most of it, but we also wanted it to feel natural, organic, beautiful and romantic all at the same time. We found that having simple decorations let the true beauty of the house, rolling hills of the backyard, newly budding flowers and calm water really show! We kept the wedding color palette neutral with gray, cream and ivory with small accents of orange. My uncle was such a great sport — at my request, he designed and built the canopy of lights over the dance floor and put on an absolutely amazing fireworks show! Robert and I were inspired by a wall we saw while visiting the Dallas Museum of Art; instead of having your typical guest book, we painted graphic triangles of oranges and neutrals. I still love reading all the notes our guests wrote! We also cut and painted three signs that helped guide guests to the house, all inspired once again by modern artists. We just wanted the day to reflect us — I absolutely loved our ceremony performed by Reverend Diane Robertson. It brought happy tears to everyone’s eyes! It was just a special, magical night that we will never forget!
