After poring over all the pretty in this Texas fete, you would never know the Bride isn’t much of a planner – or so she claims. But one look at this gorgeous wedding captured by Taylor Lord Photography and you would have to agree that she planned her little heart out for this party! From the Bride… I was never the girl who thought about her wedding, much less planned anything out more than a month in advance. Unless you’re talking about going to see Joshua in Colorado when we were still long-distance dating — that I loved and had to plan. But I do have very distinct taste, so my wedding followed. I didn’t let my wedding rule me over, I just enjoyed the process and went with it. I had no idea what the wedding process looked like, so, I called my friends who love everything about weddings. I wanted a beautiful wedding, but I wanted to stay within a reasonable budget too. So the process began…
River Rock Ranch is more than I could have hoped for in a venue. It had immediate bridal and groom cottages for us to stay in and get ready. It’s like a blend between Texas Rustic and New Mexico Rustic. Rebecca of A Grand Occasion was really the glue to everything I wanted my wedding to look like. She is so extremely creative and talented. She came up with so many concepts, such as the mason jar, wagon wheel chandelier that hung over my cake, the sign-in table supported by an antique door and wood chips for our guests to sign at the sign in table. I wanted many of the pieces that I found for my wedding to go into my home and secondly, I wanted to be a part of the planning process, mainly to form as many memories as possible. As much time as we spend planning our big days, we should enjoy them and make them personal and fun, not stressful.
Josh loves cigars, so that’s why we had a cigar roller. We also went around to a few cigar shops and eBay and ordered cigar boxes. They became part of our centerpieces here and there around the wedding. I wore some sassy turquoise velvet heels that I found on a shopping whim at Marshalls. I always hated the way a veil looked on me until one day, I tried on my mom’s and it matched my dress exactly. I had no plans to do that, it just worked. It was very special to me. My grandma, Betty Lou, passed away from cancer when I was only four years old. I wore a stunning diamond ring that she had given my mom, that my mom gave to me. It was my way of having her there on the day.
