May 14, 2012
Just as this wedding is mostly neutrals with a fabulous pop of color in the most exciting places, it is also mostly wonderful with a fabulous pop of glamour in the most deserving places. With Melissa McCrotty Photography behind the lens and Finishing Touch Event Design behind the florals and the design, this couple had everything they needed to celebrate in style. Chris and I met and fell in love at the University of Arkansas. After graduation, we moved back to our hometowns. While we were both pursuing our careers we visited each other often. The day after Thanksgiving in which I thought he was coming to visit to go to the HOGS game, he proposed! I found a job in Northeast Arkansas and we finally were able to be in the same part of the State again.

The venue was gorgeous. The ceremony was held in the courtyard at the Arkansas Arts Center. I loved the character of the brick surrounding the area and the greenery and flowers wrapping around the walls. The reception was held in the Atrium of the Arts Center. It was a unique venue because of the tall wood ceilings and the art work being displayed. At the time of our wedding the Arts Center was holding its annual Delta Exhibition which showcases work by artists from Arkansas. It was perfect timing!

The inspiration was southern classic. We wanted the style to be timeless so it would be beautiful forever. All the colors were neutrals except the flowers! I wanted the colors to be in the flowers and boy did the colors pop! The vibrant colors of the flowers were perfect.

One of the special touches to our wedding was the food! Chris and I love to cook together so we wanted to serve food that fit our style. One of Chris’s specialties is biscuits and homemade gravy. You can ask anyone, it’s delicious! We also included pecans as favors from the pecan tree at his father’s home. His dad picks the pecans up every year and it was special because he picked the ones we used just for our wedding.

It was a perfect day! Chris and I couldn’t have put it all together without the planning from Jessica Kersey from Finishing Touch Event Design and our families! The best part of the wedding was having all our families and friends come together to celebrate!
