From the Bride… We decided to utilize the property to its fullest and embrace all its nooks. A welcome drink in the spa, a Tuscan-themed rehearsal dinner on the patio, a bonfire with s’mores, a yoga class led my dear friend and officiant, the ceremony in the field overlooking the vegetable garden, the reception in a restored barn, and the Sunday Bloody Mary bar in the sun room. Another huge goal for us was to make sure our guests left knowing a little more about us, and why we fell in love. Isn’t that the reason why they were all there? We wrote our own vows and performed a mashup routine for our first dance. I had a moment of boldness and made a speech about Travis, and our ceremony pamphlets were stories and quotes of how we met and why we wanted to share this special place with our guests.

Because the event was spread over a weekend we created an opportunity to spent quality time with our guests and for our guests to spend quality time with each other. (My mom’s best friend actually told me that she spent three hours just relaxing in her cottage with her husband, chatting and listening to our CD on Saturday afternoon.) We selected flowers that complemented the setting and season and accented with touches that expressed our memories and travels. It was everything I ever wanted, everything I didn’t know I needed, and I was told, “It was an affair to remember.”
