Backyard Bellingham Wedding by Eldad Efendi Photography

Our Wedding Wednesday just wouldn’t be complete without a pretty, little, vintage number added to the mix.  And this one by Eldad Efendi Photography is just the perfect one!  It is fun, casual and totally cool in every single way.  I love the mix of patterns and the succulent-filled bouquets and centerpieces.  It brings a little modern edge to the sweet, vintage-inspired theme.  I just want to eat up every single detail in the full gallery!

From the Bride… Matt, and I met while working together at his family-owned yacht company in 2007. We immediately were smitten with one another and excited to share our future together. Our love of adventure, traveling, sailing and boating throughout the San Juan Islands, skiing, hiking and enjoying all that life has to offer brought us to where we are today. In the summer of 2010, Matt proposed to me on Eliza Island (a place we go every year for a camping weekend and to celebrate with friends). It was the spot that he first told me he loved me three years prior.

Living in the most beautiful place in the Northwest, we felt that there was no other place we would want to get married and decided immediately to have both the ceremony and reception on Matt’s parents’ 10-acre property in Bellingham, Washington. This would provide us with an intimate and natural setting for our 175 guests. With our love of adventure and travel, we thought of our marriage as a new journey, and we asked those special to us to join us on our journey. With this in mind we began preparing… We wanted to create a fun, whimsical and sweet atmosphere, which we were able to accomplish through many small details such as our “Belizean Love Punch” signature cocktail, yard games, an amazing DIY photo wall (built by my extremely talented dad, Scott!), a sweet treats dessert table created by a wonderful friend of ours (thanks Gretch!), a DIY dance floor stage, and including our pups in our ceremony (they made for the best flower girl and ring bearer ever). Our chalkboard signs were old windows from where I work, the tallest building in Bellingham, dated from 1930 when it opened as a hotel. I painted the exterior frame and then painted the window with chalkboard paint. Our incredibly talented invitation designer, Kerri Efendi then designed and wrote in chalk on them.

Because we are not super fancy people, we wanted to have a more laid-back feel to our wedding, and we also were sure to be true to ourselves and allow our personalities to show in the details (from the welcome wall and the various plates I collected prior to the wedding to the dessert choice of carrot cake and delicious coconut cupcakes). We were fortunate enough to have Eldad Efendi capturing our every special moment. From our engagement shoot to our first dance, he listened to what we wanted and created spectacular, vintage-inspired images that let our love shine through.

Our big day was the best day of both of our lives — not only did we each feel honored to be marrying our best friend, we wanted to honor the people in our lives that have continuously supported us throughout the years. Taking our inspirations of nature, clean modern design with a vintage feel we were able to create (with the influence and help of many friends and family) the day of our dreams.”
