From the Bride… I firmly believe that Atlanta is biggest small town out there. Daniel went to UNC and I went UGA for undergrad, and when we met in Atlanta five years after graduation we had no idea that our circle of friends overlapped in so many ways. Given that our friends and family are not scared of having a good time, we knew our wedding would not be a disappointment no matter what planning decisions we made.

I had always figured I would have a Charleston wedding after spending all my summers growing up at my grandparents house on King Street, but after one millisecond of planning I realized there was no way I could juggle work and planning a destination wedding. Therefore my requirements were that my venue had to be a part of Atlanta’s history and full of southern sophistication. The solution: The Georgian Terrace Hotel. The art deco tile in the cocktail foyer literally screamed my name when I first visited. Early on I knew my absolute favorite part of the planning was going to be the invitations. I have a major stationery addiction and Callie at Calliespodence (who is also a friend from college) designed the most gorgeous wedding invitations that included a custom liner made to perfectly match our reception table runners.

When we chose a January date, I was elated that I finally had the right occasion deserving of my grandmother’s vintage fox stole. Little did I know that I would wake up on our wedding day to 75 degree temperatures and tornado warnings. Surprisingly, I was extremely calm about it all! Luckily the rain stopped and clouds parted right before pictures. My style is simple, classic, and southern, and our priority was that our wedding was not a complicated affair. Our ceremony was the kind where everyone (including me and Daniel) laughed and cried — it could not have been more “us” or more perfect. I was a bride on a budget and joked that my wedding planner was anyone who was willing to help! Fortunately one of my close mentors also happens to be a very talented Atlanta hostess and designer who, along with giving me wonderful advice, loaned me her classic black and cream toile tablecloths, which set the stage for everything else. My sweet mother-in-law sewed additional custom runners for the tables, and Denise at TruSo Weddings did a beautiful job understanding my unique request for paperwhites and boxwood centerpieces. Our cake was delicious and although I’m biased, I think it the best I have ever had. My goal was for people to dance, and they did — all night, literally — right down to my 84-year-old grandmother refusing to leave the dance floor. My favorite detail was our end of night favor: hot and fresh Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits. Nothing is better than a hot chicken biscuit after a night of champagne and dancing! The best part of the wedding is that both Daniel and I had the BEST time and enjoyed every second. All in all, I can honestly say there is absolutely nothing I would have changed or done differently. It was the perfect day!
