There are some weddings that are beautiful because the details are perfect. There are some weddings that are beautiful because the love that brought it all together is breathtaking. And then there are some weddings that are so easily beautiful because the details are perfect without even trying, and the love at the center is amazing. This wedding is in that class. We chose Ox Ridge Hunt Club simply because it is a magical place. I grew up horse back riding and have been a member of Ox Ridge Hunt Club for a number of years. The 20 acre field there is an incredible open space – amazing in that it even still exists in this very residential area. Formerly, it had been a farm, and for the last 100 years it has been the home of the Ox Ridge Hunt Club.
We wanted something that was both upscale yet fitting for the setting in an open field – somewhat informal, but attention to every detail from the incredible Sperry tent to the décor to the food to the beverages to Tuey Connell and his band.
We wrote our own vows, yet bucked tradition in many ways as well, skipping the church and getting married in the middle of the field by a family friend. We didn’t want the formality of “assigned seating” or a traditional cake to cut. Or a formal sit down meal or “father/daughter dance”. We went with the idea that we were bringing together the people we love in an incredible venue, with delicious food (including two local heritage pigs that were roasted on open fires all night the night before in the field), awesome cocktails and music to get everyone up and dancing! We wanted to make it an afternoon/evening that we could all share – no rules, no formalities. Everyone got a handmade wooden piggy cutting board to take home to remember the night!
