Jeff and I met through a mutual friend… Match.com. We chatted over e-mails for a couple of weeks and Jeff mentioned that we should meet up for a drink sometime. We decided to meet up a local, fun spot and Jeff being the gentleman that he is, waited outside for me to arrive. I walked around the corner and when I saw him for the first time, I couldn’t help but smile. He had such a sweet, handsome face. I walked right up to him and gave him a hug! What ended up being the best blind date ever also turned into meeting the man I was meant to be with for the rest of my life!

Three years passed and Jeff proposed at the same spot where we first met. The perfect proposal! Both Jeff and I wanted to get married sooner than later and quickly decided on a fall wedding. This meant we had just eight months to plan so we jumped into booking vendors and the venue right away. The first person I contacted was Jennifer Skog. I knew she would photograph and capture our day beautifully. And my second phone call was to Ron Grandia to be our DJ… he is simply the best hands down! We knew we were going to have a fun wedding with Ron there spinning the music.

During our first meeting with our amazing wedding planner, Crystal Lequang, she asked us what type of wedding we wanted to have. Jeff and I knew we were going to have a large wedding since we have a lot of family and friends so our main focus was to have a feeling of it being intimate. We also really wanted it to be fun and memorable with lots of simple details and touches that would show our personalities as individuals and as a couple.

We both love Napa so we chose Charles Krug Winery as our venue. With vineyards surrounding the property and an open area shaded by large oak trees, it was the perfect foundation for where we were to start our lives as Mr. and Mrs. The reception was held upstairs in the newly renovated Carriage House with tall, dark wooded walls and vaulted ceilings with beautiful chandeliers. The party then continued downstairs in the beautiful Barrel Room. Overall, the look of the wedding was classic/vintage without being too rustic. It was very easy to get inspired by with all of the lush landscape, endless rows of grapevines and overall relaxed, laid back feeling of the Napa Valley area. There were lots of romantic touches such as antique frames, chandeliers and soft pink flowers like English garden roses and ranunculus. We added personal touches with an original piece of artwork done by one of the groomsmen, comic book cuff links for the groom and groomsmen and Spider-Man on the wedding cake.

The most memorable moment for both of us was during the ceremony. It felt like it was just the two of us as we looked at each other, smiling; time somehow stood still. This was THE moment that we were both so excited for. Getting to say our own vows to each other, pledging our love in front of our family and friends and soaking up each and every moment. The greatest compliment we have received since our wedding has been “That was a Julie and Jeff wedding”. Knowing how much fun our guests had and how special of a day it was for each of us made it truly memorable.
