From Kirsty of Kirsty Edwards Photography + The Bride… This wedding was a whimsical sunset affair where Danish and American traditions collided to bring you the following customs: while the bride is absent (e.g. using the ladies room during dinner), all the ladies (guests) run over to kiss the groom and vice versa — while the groom is absent all the men run to kiss the bride. All the guests knock on the plates or glasses (many times during the wedding) until the bride and groom climb onto their chairs and kiss each other in front of everyone. When the guests stamp their feet, the pair have to crawl under the table and kiss. The wedding waltz should be danced before midnight — guests stand in a big circle and clap. The guests move closer and the circle gets smaller until the couple are surrounded by their loved ones. The groom is then picked up by the men in the crowd and his socks are cut off at the toes, so he, according to old saying, won’t flatter or ingratiate another woman! Love it!
