Charleston Wedding at the Gibbes Museum of Art by Ashley Baber Weddings

Charming and Charleston are basically the same in my eyes. When it comes to weddings, it’s hard to find a more endearing place. And this darling wedding planned to the very last detail by Ashley Baber Weddings is the perfect example. Classic and personal and pretty as can be, every image in the full gallery of images captured by Amelia + Dan Photography is as charming as they come!

From the Bride… David and I live in Atlanta and have the most adorable shotgun house in an old cotton mill neighborhood close to the city. And while we love living in Atlanta, we wanted our wedding to be a getaway for our guests coming in from all over the country. When we landed on Charleston, South Carolina — a charming and historic southern city on the coast — we knew it was the perfect spot for us.

Our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were all held at the Gibbes Museum of Art. The ceremony was upstairs in the large gallery, followed by our cocktail hour downstairs with art-lined blue walls, and our reception was in the secluded courtyard behind the museum. We used soft peach and neutrals throughout the décor for an understated, soft look. Friends and family helped make the sweet personal touches possible — from the whimsical bridal luncheon and rehearsal dinner décor to co-ed assembly lines stuffing welcome boxes and hand-sketched guest thumbprint trees — we couldn’t have done it without them. One of the most special things was having my mom make my chapel-length, French lace veil. The very same veil that my dad slipped on and accidentally yanked out of my hair during the ceremony when he gave me away — a little something to lighten the mood.

With the champagne flowing and dance floor packed, the crisp November night soon wasn’t a problem. Particularly when my dad busted out with blues brothers hats and sunglasses for all the groomsmen to wear as the band started playing “Soul Man.” Riding away in our rickshaw after the reception, David and I both said that it was the best party we had ever been to and wouldn’t have changed a thing. We left for Bali a couple of days later and we kept saying to each other that we couldn’t believe how surreal and perfect the weekend was. It really does go by in a flash, so try to take it in and make sure you hire a great photographer and cinematographer to capture the little moments you will soon forget.
