Brian and Alexandra celebrated their wedding with a unique combination of their home states, Connecticut and Texas. The ceremony took place in the hill country in Austin, with items brought from home spread throughout the decor. Connecticut vintage lace was placed on hay bales, vintage doors were used for place cards, and vintage cans and soda crates from each area were used throughout. The combination of food was fun and refreshing: fried chicken, grits with various toppings and Brian’s grandmothers strawberry rhubarb pie. Alexandra chose to forgo the elaborate wedding cake and chose a selection of pies instead, which didn’t last long. And what’s a Connecticut wedding without a Labrador? The couple’s black lab, Shea, proudly walked the aisle as the stand-in flower girl. The oohs and aahs made her day. The bridesmaids chose their own white dresses, and the results made everyone happy and comfortable. The ceremony incorporated friends and family — Brian’s close friend played banjo, another friend performed the ceremony, and family did the readings. The flowers were not standard issue, rather leaning towards natural and organic with fruit, herbs, topiaries and wreaths. The wedding uniquely combined both backgrounds of the bride and groom into one fun and beautiful evening.
