Frost Memorial Chapel Wedding by Claudia McDade Photography

From the moment I saw the sweet smiles bursting from this adorable bride and groom, I knew I was done for.  I mean, really, is there anything in the world more amazing than two people in love?!?  Add to that a plethora of DIY details, bridesmaids in cute cardigans and a stunning ceremony at Frost Memorial Chapel and, well, I can’t get enough.  ThankfullyClaudia McDade Photography was on hand to capture every last pretty detail, so we can spend our Monday soaking it all in.  Click here for more.

From the Bride… The wedding planning process was a roller coaster ride. It was very exciting, yet stressful and overwhelming all at the same time. Since we were planning on a budget, early in the process we sat down and made a list of the most important details to us and decided to focus most of our spending on those things. I consider myself a fairly crafty person and I love making things, so I then decided I wanted to try to handcraft as many smaller details of our wedding as possible. I made almost everything including our invitations, programs, boutonnieres, signage and even the table runners. Although it added a little more stress, there was a lot of satisfaction in knowing I had put so much thought, heart and effort into our special day. I also made sure to stop often during the stressful times and remind myself what the day is really about. It is NOT about the flowers, the cake, the candles, the dresses — at the end of the day, it is only about marrying the person you love.

I also made sure to let others help me — I feel like it makes the day that much sweeter. A bridesmaid’s mother made our wedding cake and it was one of the best cakes I had ever eaten! It was her great-grandmother’s pound cake recipe, so I know it brought her joy to be able to share it. I think the main goal for our wedding was for it to be very “us.” Our families and the two of us are very laid-back and very southern, so I really wanted that to come through in every detail.  That is what really inspired me.
