Los Angeles Wedding from Jasmine Star Photography + Shawna Yamamoto Event Designs

It’s kind of embarrassing the scene here at SMP. Swooning fits, blushing, goosebumps galore, and maybe a few tears, all thanks to this groom. This groom who literally built this amazing wedding for his bride. Jasmine Star Photography captured the romance, the glitz, the utterly beautiful day, designed by Modern LA Weddings + flora’d by Shawna Yamamoto Event Design, and honestly, we can’t help but admire in awe. I will simply leave you the link for the gallery so you may commence your own fit of swooning!

We’re not quite done with this fabulous affair, and I’m positive we’re not the only ones. So obviously we asked Cloud9 Cinematography for their take on the day. And we’re not disappointed!

For our wedding, we wanted to share some of our favorite foods and experiences during our travels and incorporate the history and our ties to the venue. We knew instantly we wanted to marry at The Los Angeles Athletic Club. The private club was established in 1880 and the clubhouse was built by Cory’s great great grandfather 100 years ago and run by his family for 5 generations. Months after deciding to have our wedding at the club, we received exciting news the ballroom was approved for a renovation. Cory, who works at the club, would oversee the renovation and it would be a tight race to finish the room in time, our wedding was the first scheduled event in the new ballroom if it finished on schedule. Otherwise, our wedding theme would be a construction zone.

After showing me the room torn down, Cory said I couldn’t see the ballroom again until our wedding day as a surprise. Our amazing wedding planner and designer Nam and I worked on a concept for a room we had to imagine, it was a challenge but we had fun with it. We looked at sample swatches and concept drawings to help guide us and Nam frequently checked on the room to see the progression. A week before our wedding, the floors were still bare and the room was still covered in saw dust , everyone started working longer days and into the night to finish in time and our buffer went from a week before our wedding to hopefully being completed the day before.

On the morning of our wedding day my bridesmaids saw Cory on the third floor, still working on the final touches and putting vintage books on the newly installed shelves. I saw Cory for our first look in the finished ballroom, he stood there in his tuxedo in the middle of the room he worked so hard to finish and my stomach flipped, he looked so handsome and the ballroom was so beautiful. I felt so lucky to marry someone as special as him and our wedding day was simply the best day of my life. I am so grateful to the amazing staff at the club who worked so hard to make our day perfect, they are like family to us and they made us feel like we were celebrating at home.
