From the Bride… Kin and I met towards the end of college on an intramural football team, squished together in a backseat on the way to practice. I thought he was aloof. After the season was over, we kept running into each other through mutual acquaintances and became good friends. We waited several months before we started dating, since I was graduating and unsure of where I would wind up. I was blessed to find a job in Austin, and it wasn’t long before I knew he was the one I wanted. We dated five great years before he proposed. We wanted a place and ceremony that would reflect us and our faith, something simple and elegant. Our families were coming in from out of town, so having the ceremony and reception in one location was a must. My taste is more traditional, rustic and vintage, so the place needed to have those qualities. I had seen the Inn at Wild Rose Hall from a wedding shoot my friend had done, and it was one of the two venues we checked out. We loved how laid-back, cozy and intimate it felt, with a beautiful sprawling garden and mini goats and donkeys. They had us at “bahh.”

Since it was a winter wedding, I opted for a warm, light and pretty color palette of champagne pink, chocolate brown and light matte gold with scarlet accents. I envisioned the soft glamour of candlelight, vintage bottles and milk glass, and pretty sweeping florals. The first thing to do was to hire Forever Photography, since their gorgeous work is exactly how I wanted my wedding remembered. Then we found Kristi Treadwell of Joyful Details, our wonderful day-of-planner who steered us in the right direction and did a wonderful job coordinating our wedding day. We wanted a luxurious dinner for our guests, and Royal Fig Catering did it all right. We still get comments on how good our family-style dinner was! When I asked them about a hot chocolate bar, not only did they offer it, they asked me what kinds of chocolate I wanted. Bliss! Sweet Treets Bakery made our delectable three-tiered cake, topped with a cute cake topper from Etsy, and our wedding favors were initial cookies from Kin’s favorite bakery, Quack’s. For our vintage glass bottles and vases, I also looked to Etsy. My dress was a beautiful Wtoo gown with layers of netting, a lace bodice and gathered straps — all very vintage. My veil was also from Etsy, and I wore my grandmother’s necklace since they could not attend. My bridesmaids were in beautiful soft pink chiffon Amsale dresses.

The wedding day was so happy. Even though we had to move the ceremony to the patio (it had rained the day before), the day was gorgeous and cool, and I was so impressed with how well everything came together — I definitely hired the right people! I got to focus on getting ready with my bridesmaids, and everything was perfect when I came out to walk down the aisle. I loved seeing so many of my friends as we walked down to the altar, and Kin and I were both overcome as we said our vows. I remember our pastor accidentally remarking “This is so sweet” as we hugged our families. Some of my favorite details of the day were the initial wreaths our family and friends helped us make, spending a few quiet hours with my girls before the wedding, the look on Kin’s face during our first-glance photos, and even being overwhelmed by the group photo of family friends from his small town! It was perfect for us, and I cherished every moment.
