After a one year long-distance relationship and one year of wedding planning, we were married on June 25, 2011. Our wedding was the simple, contemporary event we envisioned – we could not have been happier!

We live in a loft in downtown Cincinnati, and we wanted our wedding to reflect our urban lifestyle. We chose to marry downtown at The Contemporary Arts Center because its clean, modern look aligned perfectly with our wedding style. The museum’s concrete columns/floors and wall of windows overlooking the bustling city streets provided the perfect indoor setting for a modern summer wedding. It was a venue that could stand on its own, and no heavy decorations were necessary – we wanted guests to enjoy the energizing environment the museum provided.

We chose a charcoal gray color palette, with an accent of spring green for a pop of color. From the beginning, we envisioned a simple, fresh, and contemporary affair. Our minimalist floral centerpieces resembled abstract art, our paper products portrayed the same straight-forward, contemporary sensibility, and the bridesmaid dresses displayed sculptural silhouettes. We found contemporary, unique wedding pieces from Etsy, IKEA, and Anthropologie.

The DIY projects that we are very proud of include our reception table names, guest thank you cards, well-wishes note cards, and the reception seating chart. We learned through our DIY projects to align everything with the look and feel of our wedding, which created the cohesive appearance we desired.
