From the bride… Our ideal wedding day was always about it being a meaningful and intimate day for us and our guests. In the midst of planning our wedding, I discovered my passion and skill at planning events, and so Event Artistry Planners was born. It’s such a thrill knowing that our wedding also resulted in bringing a passion of mine to life, one I’m so excited about sharing!

Our ceremony was a morning garden wedding on the hedge-framed lawn at Eden Gardens. The ceremony was a centuries old Hindu Vedic ceremony conducted by the coolest Hindu priest, who translated most rites and rituals from ancient Sanskrit into English. We were married under a silk pandal (or canopy), witnessed by 40 of our closest friends and family. The ceremony was styled simply, with dashes of colour in the rose petal-strewn aisle and the pomanders lining the aisle chairs. The two weeks preceding our wedding day were consistently rainy, so it was with great surprise and relief that the rain held off that morning. As if a sign from the Hindu God Ganesha, the elephant God who symbolizes new beginnings and removal of obstacles, the sun broke through the clouds after our priest read the first prayer. The white paper fans with splashes of red ribbon, given to each guest, proved quite handy as the humidity hung low in the air through the ceremony. Guests were also given little white boxes filled with traditional Indian sweets, which were tied with red ribbon, and a handmade thank you tag with our fingerprints forming a heart.

After family photographs at Eden Gardens, we had a quick change out of our traditional bridal attire and headed to lunch at Quay Restaurant, where we were greeted by our guests being served divine little canapés and welcome drinks. By this time, Sydney had turned on the sunshine, and our guests (some from overseas) were able to enjoy the unsurpassed views of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and magnificent harbour in all its brilliance. Lunch was superb, accompanied by a gifted guitarist who completed the relaxed yet celebratory mood. We kept speeches quite simple and heartfelt, and we made sure to have some special time alone together to take in the amazing day we were blessed to have. After lunch, we spent a few hours taking photographs with the phenomenal Karl from Welsch Photography. We had a short break with family in our suite at the Sydney Intercontinental Hotel, after which we joined a few guests for drinks at Opera Bar until the wee hours of the morning. It was an unforgettable, amazing day.
