From Jasmine Champion Weddings (The Bride)… Adrian proposed to me at sunset, in a rose garden with a huge fountain, in Capetown while on holiday … it was extremely romantic! We then decided that we wanted our wedding to be abroad and to be memorable for our guests. The idea was that we wanted our closest family and friends to come away with us and enjoy a weekend break to celebrate our big day. We wanted our wedding to reflect our personalities and to be relaxed, romantic and fun, with great food and wine! So we decided on Bordeaux — France is, of course, famous for its great food and wine. As we are from London, it was very easy for our guests to travel to Bordeaux. We found the perfect venue for our wedding — Chateau de La Ligne. The team there were all so helpful, and we left with new friends for life. The chateau is designed in a traditional French way and had amazing grounds and vineyards. We had only three months to plan our destination wedding! As I am a wedding planner and have planned weddings abroad and in London, I felt quite relaxed and quietly confident! It is very different to plan my own wedding, but I enjoyed the whole experience from start to end.
As the weather that weekend was 30 degrees Celsius (approximately 85 degrees Fahrenheit), we decided to hold the ceremony outside and had large parasols for our guests to keep them as cool as possible in the heat! We also had bottles of ice-cold, old-fashioned lemonade with personalised labels for our guests as they arrived. I wanted to include my Indian culture and background in our wedding too. In mixed-faith weddings, I feel its important to have aspects of both the bride and groom incorporated. So I decided to design my wedding gown and hair jewels with an Indian influence. I also had the tree under which we were married decorated with hanging flowers, jewels and lanterns to give an Indian flavour. Our parents also celebrated the end of the ceremony by blessing us with flower garlands, which is part of my culture too.
We had the champagne reception outside, overlooking the beautiful vineyards. There were a large selection of amazing French canapés as well as a traditionally French foie gras stand and a fresh oyster stand too. Once the sun began to set, guests look their seats for the evening reception and meal. We partied and danced till 3 a.m. — what a party! To thank our guests for coming, I personalised large chocolate bars with guests’ names and a message to each person. All of our suppliers who worked on our wedding were amazing and we could not have had the perfect day without them! Their hard work and commitment is much, much appreciated. Our wedding was full of emotion, laughter and enjoyment for both of us and our guests, so it was…mission accomplished!
