Lake Tahoe Wedding by Cooper Carras

I have had many a girl crush throughout my days as editor of SMP. Probably a hundred or so too many if I’m being honest. But today, it’s a whole new level of crazy. Aside from being ridiculously beautiful, this next bride also has a killer sense of style, an adorable groom and one of the most effortlessly lovely celebrations we’ve seen on SMP. Oh and the most INSANE Lake Tahoe backdrop ever. With perfect photography by Cooper Carras to boot. This one, my friends, is enough to turn even the sourest of sour brides sweet. From the bride… Justin and I knew Lake Tahoe would be the perfect place to bring our friends and family to celebrate our wedding. Being from Northern California, we both have fond memories of winters and summers spent in Tahoe, and as a couple we have spent some of our best times there. September is a usually a great time for a outdoor wedding — although we were VERY lucky the day of our wedding, as it rained everywhere on the lake except over us! The Dollar House at Chinquapin was built in the 1920’s and definitely has a rustic vintage feel to it. We wanted to add to that and bring in some modern touches as well. I collected old skeleton keys and found vintage shutters to nail the keys to for our escort cards, vintage mason jars for flowers and candles and antique windows for photos. When I was in London the year before I went to the Mayfair antique market and found cameos for my bridesmaids’ bouquets, and I used my Mom’s cameo for mine. We had originally planned to tent the patio, but our guest list grew too quickly and it wasn’t possible, so to add lighting and ambiance, we hung chandeliers. The beautiful backdrop of Lake Tahoe, farm tables, mason jars, lanterns and gorgeous flowers and lighting created an amazing setting for an amazing day and night with our family and friends.
