Victoria Country Picnic-Styled Wedding Photo Shoot by Love, Joy & Laughter

I’ve always been a fan of rainy day weddings – the umbrellas, the boots, the dramatic skies, the bride and groom surrendering to the uncontroable variable of weather – It’s just romantic to me. So when Love, Joy & Laughter sent over this rainy day picnic style shoot – I was sold. The gorgeous images are enough to make you hope for a rainy day for your upcoming fête, and there is even more to gush over in the full gallery of images!

From Jess of Love, Joy & LaughterTucked away down a long narrow country road, we stumbled upon a little shed in the midst of long grass with a solitary pine tree at one end. Cows eyed us curiously from a safe distance as we poked our heads into the shed, which had fallen into disuse. The doors were wired together, and one side was missing most of the wall. This would be the perfect escape from the rain which had set in and turned our summer-time picnic-style shoot into something a little more challenging. This was the first attempt for us to style a fictional wedding setting, an opportunity to begin to show others a little more of our work as we make the move into this exciting industry.

An old door with cracked and peeling paint was used as the table, propped up on straw bales, and adorned with old linen used in layers, vintage crockery and old silverware. Hessian/burlap was used as a base layer on the table, and as the cake topper: a little heart hand-stitched with wool. Old potato sacks were made into cushions. The bride had a loose bouquet of peonies and David Austen roses with native berries to modernize it, and it was tied with a strip of hessian. The groom rolled up his trousers to keep them from getting wet from the saturated grass, and the bride stayed in her boots. Rain clouds were wrapping themselves around us, parting and forming, turning the countryside into a magical mystical place. This was a fictional shoot but the love we were capturing was very real indeed, as we hope you can feel.
