From the bride… Simeon and I met online. It was not my normal way of meeting people, but he happened to pique my interest by sending me a message about his favorite series of books instead of something superficial, like my looks. After dating for a few weeks, he sat me down one night and took my hands in his and very, very sincerely said, “You complete me”. I rolled my eyes and laughed at him and he was very confused – apparently, he had never seen Jerry Maguire before. But, it seems like ever since that night, we find ways to complete one another. His strengths are my weaknesses and I take the lead when he needs to follow. His brain is all science and mine is all art, but we happen to make find common ground through music and a love of words. Oh, and the fact that he makes me feel beautiful every day makes him the perfect person for me. I am so lucky to be spending my life with such a kind, generous, intelligent and hansom man.

We’re avid readers and we bonded in our early relationship over books so, we took that “theme” and went for it, using old books from an antique store to make levels on our tables. We used old book pages to create our table numbers, our place numbers and as hearts to decorate our table (Credit for the hearts goes to a beautiful wedding I found online!). I did not really want a set color palate for our wedding, so we went with a color theme instead after finding a book of printed cardstock at a Ross for $2.99! My best friend is a florist and she and I created the look for the flowers together after a trek to the Flower Market in San Francisco. We used scraps of old quilting fabric my mom had to enhance the colors of the area and create texture. My mom and I worked long hours in front of the TV to hand make all the little details in our decor and it paid off! My parents built the table for our bar and hand painted and constructed all of our wedding signs. We really couldn’t have pulled it off without them!

Also, my husband and I are gluten intolerant (no wheat, barley or rye for us!), so our menu was completely gluten free — from the appetizers to the keg of hard cider for our guests to enjoy. My dear friends knew it was difficult to find a bakery to do a gluten free wedding cake within a budget, so they worked tirelessly to make our gorgeous wedding cake! It was DELICIOUS and so special to us, since our friends took the time to make it!
