This vintage, shabby chic inspired wedding is so over the top adorable and seamlessly put together that you may be surprised to read that it was a total DIY affair from beginning to end. Each and every image from Float Away Studios is a study in pure romance and beauty and I literally can’t stop staring at them. The gorgeous flowers, the long farm style tables set up next to the church, the super cute bridesmaid dresses, and that amazing looking cake, all come together to form a perfectly vintage, perfectly romantic fete. From the Bride…I’m going to be very honest with you guys. When it came to my wedding planning, I obsessed a little (ahem), er…a lot! I spent countless hours on blogs that fed my creativity, and gathered enough ideas to create ten weddings, which was good until I had to narrow my ideas down. But slowly I managed, and I knew I wanted something sweet, romantic, vintage, shabby/chic with a sort of timelessness. I also wanted it to reflect Ryan & I as a couple, so we infused it with lots of personal touches, and weren’t afraid to stray from a few traditions to make it less stuffy and more…us.
I spent the 9 months prior scouring second hand shops, gathering bits here and there, and claiming items I wanted to borrow from family and friends to help decorate. It wasn’t easy, there were many times I’d wished I had just picked one centerpiece to repeat throughout. But in the end, and now as I look back, I don’t regret all the work one bit. It was what I had always dreamed. (I have to put a shameless plug here, I will be selling some of these wedding decor you see in January, so be sure to check back!) Having personal items throughout made it very unique and special, and no two settings were the same.
About a month before the wedding my mom and I went to some local nurseries and got different plants that fit the faded vintage color scheme, and planted them in various little pots I had gathered. We then topped them with these adorable bird-cage-looking tiers. Each was different but helped carry a common theme. This was a big concern of mine; that everything would look chaotic and random. So I found common themes to carry throughout; the potted plants, muted vintage colors, birdcages, paper items and garden-fresh floral arrangements. In the end it had a very hand-picked, eclectic feel that worked well together.
