It’s all at once casual yet ever so elegant – a combo not easily done but one that California does so very well. From the Bride…Michael and I had originally wanted to get married out of town and make it a destination wedding but after some thought we decided to do it close to home and make it easy on ourselves plus we live in beautiful Sonoma County. We kept thinking Fall was going to be the time of year we wanted to get married plus it would give us a year to plan. After two long weekends of looking at venues and being exhausted just from doing that, we decided to get married the first available Saturday in June! Keeping the engagement short was an excellent idea because it kept me from over planning and making craziness happen. Michael helped me make quick and rational decisions which I’m very grateful for. From day one we wanted to hire vendors that we trusted and leave the stressful stuff for them. For example, I gave my florist about ten photos of flowers that I had ripped out of bridal magazines and said ” I want a combination of these” and she showed up with the most beautiful flowers, she completely read my mind. Scott our photographer was great to work with, he did our engagement photos too and we are always impressed with his work!

It was also important for us to have a lot of fun at our wedding and make sure it was unique with personal touches. We had my best friends father marry us. My uncle read the lyrics to a favorite song of ours “If I should fall Behind” by Bruce Springsteen. I made a lavender wreath that was hung at the reception from the lavender in the filed that Michael proposed to me in. Our favors were little mini chocolate golf balls in a burlap bags because Michael is an avid golfer. Our table names were special places or things in our life…for example “Maggie” our yellow lab and “Mary’s Pizza” our first date.

My vision for the day was rustic yet elegant. I rented tables and chairs from Wine Country Party & Events. I had beautiful white washed oak tables with burlap runners. The color scheme evolved after I fell in love with the bridesmaids long coral dresses. The entire day from beginning to end was more than we could have dreamed of. Jack London was amazing and served the tastiest food and never let a drink go dry. Elaine, the coordinator was so organized and helpful, she was a huge part of the day going so smoothly. We danced until the last second of the evening and then the entire wedding wandered into the local bar and played music on the jukebox and made the evening last even longer…it was truly the most fun night of our lives.
