Want to hear what pushes my wedding loving buttons? – A traditional, simply elegant wedding mixed with an urban landscape. There is just something about the contrast that puts me on high alert, and these images from Erica Rose Photography did just that. Weddings like this one coordinated by Estera Events make me feel like I need to take a deep breath they are so pretty! Or I should just hang out with this bride and her maids – they arranged for the bride’s favorite yoga instructor to come the morning of the wedding so they could start the day cool and collected – fab idea, right? From Erica Rose Photography…Erica and Sean’s wedding was such a classic Chicago affair, and very well suited to their personalities. The ceremony took place at the stunning St. Vincent DePaul chapel on the grounds of DePaul University (where Sean and Erica first met). Following the ceremony we headed to the Kinzie Street Bridge to capture a classic element of the Chicago skyline, and take advantage of the industrial warehouses for some wedding party photos. The reception took place at Erie Cafe which is old Chicago at its best, a charming spot right off the river walk with a gorgeous outdoor terrace, which was used for the cocktail hour.
The decor was beautifully put together by Hilary of Estera events, who captured Erica’s vision for simple elegance using earthy tones. An easy way to illustrate this bride’s personality: She and her girls started the day by bringing in Erica’s favorite yoga instructor for a private class in their room at Hotel 71. When I arrived for photos they were all relaxed and ready to just enjoy the day…perfect!
Erica and Sean are so natural together, their love shines through the lens so clearly and they are such a pleasure to photograph. Some of my favorite couple shots were taken when we went out onto the river walk at sunset, to catch that glowy, romantic light.
