Up next is a glamorous North Carolina affair by Kristin Byrum Photography that is a literal swoon-fest of wedding goodness. Old Hollywood wedding goodness, to be exact. And if that weren’t enough to make me fall head over heels (it is), then the gorgeous feathered bouquets by Chelish Moore Flowers, the vintage limo and the crystals dripping from every inch of space would most definitely seal the deal. From the Bride… One of mine and Adam’s passions together has always been discovering vintage and antique items. Now that we are married, we have filled our house with these treasures that have so much character and history. It was no surprise then, that when we first got engaged we agreed that this love of ours just had to be worked into the biggest day of our lives. Along with the vintage theme, I also knew that I had to give my respect to the fashion and style that I have grown up swooning over—Old Hollywood.
For the colors of my wedding, I didn’t want to limit myself to the confines of one color palette. The main idea of the decorations was to convey the feeling of glamour and southern charm. However, I didn’t want to overwhelm my guests, so I kept the palette neutral with pops of color where I saw fit. The bridesmaids’ dresses were by Love by Enzoni and chosen in a stunning champagne color. The cocktail dresses brought such a strong sense of elegance which I paired with different jewel toned colored shoes for each of the bridesmaids. I also gave a different type of accessories to each of the girls as a gift to wear during the wedding (a necklace, earrings, or feather hair piece). This kept with the vintage feel. I decided to keep my look more traditional by wearing “Serafina” by Kenneth Pool, a sweetheart ball gown with a stunning use of tulle rosettes. I paired it with white Badgley Mischka peep toe heels. All of the women’s make-up was kept very classic to give almost a Marilyn Monroe feel (liquid black eyeliner paired with red lips). The men were placed in a classic black tux with black cummerbund and bow tie. Their shoes were black and white wingtips.
The ceremony was to be a place of romance. The florist filled the altar with a variety of pink and white flowers and floating candles. Down the aisle we used feathers and white roses to decorate the pews. The flower girls tossed pink petals down the aisle before the ceremony and the guests tossed more pink petals as we walked down the aisle after the ceremony. We left in a vintage limo from the 1920’s owned by a friend of the family. The reception in the hotel was iced with silvers and crystals. Different styled centerpieces included large white ostrich plumes and table chandeliers surrounded by candles and crystals. A special place of honor went to my new husband for his wedding gift of an antique typewriter. Our six person big band, CatBaby!, gave the finishing touches to the reception ambiance. With a lot of hard work and careful planning, Adam and I had the perfect night for us to always remember—surrounded by the people and things we so proudly cherish.
