From Chicago History MuseumFor a detail obsessed event planner bride and her creative artist mom, hand crafted, thoughtful elements were everywhere you looked at this modern shabby chic affair! Loving all things white, ruffly, and frilly, this bride wanted a very romantic, soft, and timeless day inspired by feminine white ruffles, doilies, mercury glass, and peonies. This classic, charming, fairy tale wedding was absolutely beautiful. The bride is a Chicago native and the groom is from the north suburbs, so they knew a city wedding was right up their alley. The couple fell in love with the gorgeous Chicago History Museum- grand yet simple, elegant, and all about the place they call home. (Also a spot where the bride took an off campus class in the 7th grade!) It was the perfect place to host their dreamy urban wedding.

Katie and Chris had their first meeting at the stunning Elysian Hotel and then headed around town for some fun city shots with their wedding party at some of their favorite Chicago Spots– The Chicago Theater, The Wrigley Building, LaSalle Street Bridge, and North Avenue Beach– before heading to The Chicago History Museum for the ceremony and reception.

Katie and Chris surprised their guests with a romantic candle-lit first dance outside on Uihlein Plaza where they danced to ‘You N Me’ by Chicago. A sweets table included the couples favorite minis- cupcakes from Crumbs, ice cream cones, and sour cherry tarts, as well as unique wedding cake flavors like hazelnut with mocha mousse, vanilla cake with passion fruit and chocolate cake with pistachio crème brule. Dancing in the Chicago Room completed the night as guests danced until they just couldn’t dance any longer!
