Altadena Town & Country Club Wedding by Jason Q. Tran

From the fun, goofy, loving, hilarious looks on the faces of this adorable bride and groom I never would have guessed that there was a moment of stress or anxiety leading up to their first look and wedding.  They are obviously a fun-loving pair and have a bunch of hilarious friends that made their spunky and modern day memorable and meaningful.  I love that their bold color palette and design choices reflect their big personalities.  See the entire Pasadena affair by Jason Q. From the Bride…It was a cold and overcast day.  There was a high chance of rain with even a chance of thunderstorms.  It had been a stressful week and a sleepless night.  Hair and makeup was hectic, I worried about the setup at the reception site, we were behind schedule.  We needed to take the bridal portraits NOW. It was all a frenzied blur.  My bridesmaids, our parents and the photographers Tran were scrambling to get to the Pasadena City Hall to have our First Look.

I saw him across the street with his back turned, waiting.  “Oh there he is!”  exclaimed my over-excited bridesmaid.  Deep breath.  God, what if he hates my dress?  What if he goes totally blank?  I go on ahead and climb the steps.  This. Is. The. Moment.  Well, you can see our reactions beautifully captured by the ridiculously rad Jason Q. Tran and Conrad Lim.

Phil and I are not exactly DIY aficionados.  We were on a strict budget, but we wanted something bold and fun and something that reflected our blended our cultures–a little bit of the west, a little bit of the east…maybe a touch of southern charm.  With tons of advice from Sassy Girl Weddings, we got exactly what we wanted. Apples are all the rage now, but they also symbolize peace in Chinese culture.  Chinese lanterns beyond the typical red lanterns that actually have the Chinese “Double Happiness” embroidered on it.  We did the traditional Chinese marriage bowing in the middle of our ceremony.  Once to to the Heaven and Earth, once to our parents, and once to each other.  The heavens must have appreciated it a little bit, because the sun came out right after our ceremony.
