There are destination weddings and then there are destination weddings set in the gorgeous backdrop of Hungary and photographed beautifully by Kristen Marie. Seriously, this affair plays out like a modern day fairytale full of scrumptious flowers, a ruffly Vera Wang number and a lovely bride wearing a crown of foliage. Intrigued? From Kristen Marie Photography…Anna and Jonas met in Germany and are now currently living in Ireland. Jonas is from Brazil and Anna is from Hungary. Their wedding was held on Lake Balaton in Balatonfured in Hungary where she spent her summer vacations. Anna Grand Hotel hosted it and it was a celebration of friends and family coming in from all over the world. Jonas and Anna got ready at the Anna Grand Hotel then worked their way up to the hill that overlooked the countryside and lake to their 400 year old, quaint church decorated in lamb’s ear, daisies, babies breath and roses. The guests arrived by train and took it back down to the lake where they hopped on a decorated ship to cruise around Europe’s largest lake. Once ported, guests disembarked where a gypsy band played string music and the entire congregation paraded down the dock and through the trail that would take them back to celebrate at the Anna Grand.
Drinks were a Brazilian specialty of brown sugar, lime, fruit and hard liquor as the gypsy band continued to play. After dancing and a performance by a Flamenco dancer at the end of the night, Anna and Jonas changed into traditional Hungarian wedding attire. Anna wore her great grandmother’s Hungarian wedding dress and Jonas wore a suit and traditional fur hat.
