This next little number is so SMP, it’s almost too good to be true. Cherries tucked into perfect milk glass bowls, big arrangements of baby’s breath, bridesmaids decked out in perfect red shoes. And a bride that is equal parts timeless and chic. It’s the quintessential all American wedding and it’s got SMP written all over every last detail. And the Amelia Island backdrop? Ummm, perfection. From the Bride…When considering where to hold our wedding, we knew Amelia Island would offer a relaxing retreat for our guests, while exuding the Old Florida charm we desired. The ubiquitous Spanish moss, pristine beaches and picturesque marshes provided the perfect backdrop for the weekend. We were married in a small and lovely Episcopal church dating back to 1881. Surrounded by our family and closest friends, we exchanged vows in an intimate and romantic ceremony. The late afternoon light filled the sanctuary as the doors opened and my father walked me down the aisle. It was a beautiful moment, and one that we will always treasure.
We held the reception at a private yacht club overlooking the marsh. The view was spectacular as the sun was setting over the water during the cocktail hour. Our venue was elegant and casual, providing both indoor and outdoor areas to mingle. There were several interesting architectural features, such as the coquina outdoor fireplace, which kept us warm as we danced the night away. When designing our reception, we wanted it to feel like a warm and inviting dinner party. We had tables of various sizes and shapes which were adorned with an array of differing flower arrangements in creams and blushes. We scoured antique stores for the mercury glass apothecary bottles, Moorish cake stand and milk glass footed bowls. which held cranberries to tie in the season in a subtle fashion. We incorporated fruit into the cake as well, featured prominently in front of the indoor fireplace.
After spending 10 years together, we were so excited for our wedding day to arrive. It was a day filled with love and utter happiness and we look forward to spending the rest of our lives together.
