This wedding is just one of those that is literally too sweet for words. I’m loving the woodsy laid back vibe of this celebration, the bride’s amazingly light and airy dress, and the sweet-as-can-be vintage touches. And the aisle style? Out of this world adorable! From the Bride…Damien and I met in a warm cosy pub in the middle of London. Damien was the bartender…and I was the girl that kept going back for ‘just one more wine’ so I could talk to him again. We both lived locally to the pub, and after a few months of flirtatious smiles, it went to Starbucks coffee dates in the cold winter snow which escalated quickly into a summer love that never ended! Damien is from Nice, France along the French Riviera, and I am from Sydney Australia. After weighing up the pros and cons of having a wedding in each country we decided on a summer engagement party in an old rustic sandstone chapel in the South of France, St. Maxime…and for the wedding…an enchanting vintage woods meets beachside affair in Noosa, Australia.We wanted a small intimate wedding where both family and friends from the opposite sides of the world could mingle and get to know each other for the first time. We had friends and family travelling from every continent around the world from Argentina, Africa, Paris and Canada beyond. Damien’s family and friends had never been to Australia…or left Europe, so it was a big event and we endeavoured to make our wedding from all big to small touches reflect our relationship, as well as representing both families and cultures.
Our vision was simple, to incorporate a vintage theme in with our quirky personalities. The boy’s outfits were a mix-match of hats, bow ties, braces and waist coats. While the girls were each wearing different dresses, one in a lace mini dress from Zara and the other was handmade from materials found in second hand stores. My bridal gown was bought from Etsy.com from a designer, Sarah Seven, in which I added a cream vintage belt to for finishing touches.We used our amazing wedding planner, Kim Eibrink Jansen from Weddings of Noosa to source locations for our ceremony and reception. We fell in love with our ceremony site at first glance…a whimsical area where the rough grass met the sand and tree’s curved and scattered amongst the wild flowers…it was perfection. We used the trees and natural beauty of the location as a canvas for our decor. We brought in rustic wooden chairs for guests, and used flower heads strung from ribbon attached to the trees so they floated down amongst the guests. We mixed assorted vintage jars, old milk jugs, bottles and tea cups to line the isle with a mixture of cream wildflowers overflowing from them. A laced canopy sat at the end of the isle, held up by rustic sticks with cream and white flowers weaved around and across so as to blend into the surroundings.
After eating, dancing and drinking under the stars our guests again filled themselves on a dessert table. The favourite’s included mini sorbet ice cream cones handed out from an artist easel, mini cheesecakes, lemon meringue pies and of course….we couldn’t forget a cheese board for our French guests! The night ended with a long heartfelt farewell to so many international guests that travelled so far for our big day. As we left our guests to enjoy the rest of the Private Penthouse party we both couldn’t help but think; ‘let’s do that all over again! A wedding every year in a different country…why not!?’
