Traditional Schererville Wedding from Avery House

When I heard there was a wedding waiting in my inbox that was inspired by, in my humble opinion, the best wedding film of all time – Father of the Bride – I couldn’t open it fast enough. When I saw that it was from Avery House, some of our favorite Mid-Western Photographers, I may or may not have let out a little gasp. And as I poured over image after image of this gorgeous Indiana affair, the gasping turned to squealing in my excitement to share this with you. We even have a sweet highlight film from I Do Films for your viewing pleasure! Prepare yourself for a morning of devouring ever spectacular detail over at Avery House’s blog.

We wanted our wedding to be very classic. When we first got engaged, Nick and I decided that I would be in charge of the decor and Nick would be in charge of the music and the food. I had always wanted the “Father of the Bride” wedding – classic white flowers in a beautifully decorated room.  I have also always had a love for Marie Antoinette and all things French, so we decided to infuse a little bit of that in there as well.

Our colors were French blue and gold, which our planner Debi Lilly incorporated into the linen and accents items like the menu cards and the color of the font on our invitations. We are both Greek, so we used the music and the desserts to highlight that.

Nick’s family is from Pittsburgh and the east coast, so we knew that we would have a lot of out-of-town guests at the wedding.  It was actually my Dad’s idea to host a wedding weekend instead of just a wedding day.  We had our rehearsal dinner on Friday night at a beautiful country club in Dyer, Indiana.  On Saturday we rented out a tour bus that picked up our guests from their hotel and took them on a tour of Chicago. After the tour, which included the locations of spots like “Nick and Rinoula’s first Chicago date”, we took our guests to our favorite Chicago restaurant, “Greek Islands” in Greektown. The night ended early so everyone could rest up for the big day. The day after the wedding, my parents hosted a brunch at their home with lovely pastries and a crepe station where you could get made-to-order crepes.  Our goal was to showcase both Indiana and Illinois and give our guests a great experience of the Midwest.
