La Petite Fleur ~ Fall Wedding At Huntingdon Valley Country Club

Boy do we have a treat for those of you with a certain love for late summer blooms. This September wedding from La Petite Fleur is blossoming with fun florals, in such energetic colors, that is sure to beat your Monday afternoon blues. The green apple, mango, and plum pallet looks good enough to eat. And that dress! Even more sophisticated florals. Sit back, smell the flowers, and enjoy this sweet, simple Pennsylvania soiree. From the LPF teamInspiration for the wedding came from the couple’s affinity for clean, sophisticated lines and rich colors to create a striking scene in green and aubergine for this early September wedding. A rose petal aisle led the couple across the club’s lush green courtyard to a set of grand wrought iron gates, adorned with wreaths of deep green lemon leaves and rich mango roses. Lining the aisle and framing the couple as they exchanged vows were bright green mum pomanders suspended by purple organza. While Amanda’s bridesmaids carried tight bundles of mini lavender and aubergine calla lilies, she carried a collection of deep aubergine, mango and lavender calla lilies, accented with thin loops of grass blades and finished with a rhinestone cuff. Complementing the ladies’ flowers were the groomsmen’s mini calla boutonnieres.

From the beautiful bride … Wes and I met on a blind date. Our friend and match-maker extraordinaire thought we were perfect for each other and set us up. Who knew she would be so right! We enjoyed the conversation and each others’ company and quickly realized there would be future dates. When it finally came time to propose, Wes took me to an event at the Philadelphia Art Museum, where we had had one of our most memorable dates earlier on. As sunset approached, he suggested we take a few photos from the top of the steps so famously scaled by Rocky. Due to the batteries in the camera being conveniently dead, I was distracted looking for spare batteries in the camera case while Wes reached into his pocket, plucked out the ring and fell to one knee. It took him a few tugs of my pant leg to get me to look down and recognize the impending proceedings. With my undivided attention, the proposal was popped and happily accepted with the picturesque Philly skyline in the background.

We knew we wanted something fun and colorful for our wedding, while keeping it contemporary. The wedding was in early fall, and so we wanted summer and fall colors blended. We are certainly not people with many traditions so we attempted to do our wedding the way we truly wanted it. Our simple aim was to create a wedding that would bring fond memories of the event for the rest of our lives. We live just down the street from the Huntingdon Valley Country Club and have passed it on our jogging route too many times to count! We decided to take a look inside the club for a change and knew instantly it was the place for us.

I knew I would be very emotional on the big day so we decided to see each other privately before the ceremony. It was a beautiful moment which made the ceremony easier for both of us. Plus, it allowed us to have a private dinner for the two of us during cocktail hour since our pictures were out of the way. We loved having that moment to spend with each other and I am sure our bridal party appreciated being able to let loose a bit early. Since my mother had recently been diagnosed and treated for breast cancer, in lieu of favors we made a donation to the American Cancer Society. You can almost guarantee that everyone at the wedding knows someone affected by cancer and several of our guests thought it was an extremely thoughtful gesture and better than any favor they have received in the past.
