Mexico Wedding by Paulina Ulloa

This wedding from Paulina Ulluo might be a bridesmaid’s ultimate fantasy.  Of course being a bridesmaid is about sharing that very special day with one of your best of friends but taking a dream vacation to Mexico, wearing a gorgeous mod dress with sexy gold heels and carrying a beautiful bouquet?  Definitely a perk!  It doesn’t hurt that this celebration is also dripping with design-savvy details.  Visit the full wedding gallery for more from this chic-tastic, modern destination wedding!

When we got engaged- we knew we wanted a destination wedding to be able to spend quality time with our guests who would be traveling primarily from California, Washington and Pennsylvania. I remembered a vacation home in Punta Mita that I had seen years ago (as part of my obsession of looking at places I could be vacationing at that very moment) and absolutely fell in love with it. Once we visited- that was that. Everyone stayed at a hotel in Puerto Vallarta (which was already so much fun) and the day of the wedding we shuttled everyone to the venue. The vision for our wedding was really sculpted by the venue.  It’s very modern and stark- but is amazing against the backdrop of the ocean. I loved the clean lines and used them as inspiration for décor such as the ghost chairs, simple flower arrangements, white lounge areas, etc.

That said, we wanted it to look fresh and modern, but not too stuffy- so we incorporated quirky fun items so it didn’t look so formal. Things like the funny nose cups, viewmasters with reels from old 70’s and 80’s shows, striped straws, churro bar, etc. I loved the color combo of yellow and gray and felt it popped against the white house.

DIY projects – both my and my husband’s moms really took the cake on this one! My mom made all the table runners and napkins for the tables. We made our escort cards with Milagros (an inspiration from SMP including the verbiage!) and used a very talented calligrapher from Etsy to do the writing. In addition, our programs were inspired by a post on Style Me Pretty (and the bride gave us the sample!) and printed along with our menus by Scott’s mom – who also did our invitations.

The best thing about our wedding was how much FUN everyone had. Once the dance party started- it didn’t stop- and we just couldn’t be more grateful to our friends and family for making the trip!
