The lovelies of Salt Harbor Design took a darling spin on the New Year’s Eve theme with vintage clocks spread throughout the celebration to help keep with the classic feel of the wedding. Just as darling was the couple’s blank canvas guest book complete with paints so the guests could get creative with their well wishes. We are loving the classic feel and heartfelt touches of this affair and there is so much more to eat up in the full gallery.

From the sweetheart Bride…The only thing Zac and I knew going into the wedding planning process is that we wanted to be married, to dedicate our lives to each other and to the Lord and to have a really good time celebrating with our family and friends. Zac is from Texas, I grew up in the military without a hometown and we met in DC, so we didn’t even know what state to get married in! After quickly being overwhelmed with the details of wedding planning and running into problems, double bookings and sticker shock everywhere we looked, we were a few months away and still didn’t have a place to get married. I am certain now looking back on it, that all of the problems only pointed us toward exactly the wedding we were meant to have.
We finally decided on a New Year’s Eve wedding on the Marine Corps base in North Carolina where my parents had just moved, because what better way to ensure everyone has a good time than to celebrate a new year and a wedding. For someone without a hometown, the entire base really seemed to play a part in pulling together a beautiful wedding for us. The staff at Marston Pavilion didn’t even look at us funny when we said we wanted pizza, sliders and an ice cream sundae bar. Salt Harbor Designs was the creative genius behind the event and managed to pull together our crazy ideas into a seamless and beautiful evening. We had a blank canvas and paints as a guestbook, countdown clocks and candles scattered throughout the pavilion, plenty of crazy New Year’s Eve glasses and hats, a surprise song written and performed by our brothers and my sister and even a send-off on a boat that my Dad arranged. The easiest and best decision though was hiring Sharon as the photographer. The pictures were really important to us and we knew that not only were Sharon’s photos going to be amazing, but her fun spirit instantly made us feel comfortable, which allowed us to relax and enjoy every minute of the day. The best part about being a military kid is knowing that wherever your friends and family are really is your home and we had some pretty incredible friends and family who traveled from every corner of the country to be there. Being surrounded by loved ones and getting to start our new life together really made for a perfect way to bring in the new year!
