New York Wedding by Jeff Tisman Photography

We have died and gone to dress heaven.  We are long time fans of ruffle-tastic dresses, but this one seriously blows it out of the ballpark.  The bride is rockin’ it and we can’t get enough.  This amazingly glamorous wedding, shot by Jeff Tisman Photography, is full of sweet little details.  We are loving the punches of green that are infused throughout the day…just gorgeous!  Are you dying to see more of that dress and all of its beauty?  Yeah, we thought so.  Hurry on over to the gallery to see more. From the bride:

Rachel and George are a couple that is all about family, friends, and unbridled good times.  And they have a lot of all three.  So, when they started planning their wedding, finding a venue that would enable them to entertain their guests without the standard restrictions of a typical event space was at the top of their list.  A space that was also reflective of their modern sense of style, and unique flair for the unexpected, was also a must.  They found both at a privately-owned home along the spectacularly picturesque Hudson River in Staatsburg, NY.  Equally important to Rachel and George was the fact that the venue, being privately-owned, allowed them to rent the property exclusively for the entire weekend.  This gave the couple the freedom they wanted to create a personal, unique and private weekend-long destination event for their guests, free of pre-determined caterers, bar packages, and – perhaps most importantly for this fun-loving crowd – restrictive time policies, which came in handy as late evenings turned into early mornings.  Multiple guest houses on the property meant that the couple’s entire immediate family, wedding party, and closest friends could all stay on the property, lending an intimate and relaxed vibe to the entire weekend.

For their wedding day, Rachel and George wanted every element to reflect their unique sense of style and personality (which they jokingly define as “classically modern, with unexpected twists of the ridiculous”).  As a result, many of the day’s elements were custom-made, several by the couple themselves.  The cuff links worn by George, and given as gifts to his Groomsmen and Ushers, were custom-designed and made to reflect the couple’s love of the band Guns N’ Roses (whose initials the couple (G n’ R) also share), and are engraved with the couple’s wedding date.  George’s white tuxedo jacket was also hand-made, and the interior embroidered with his name on one side, and the couple’s wedding date on the other.  Rachel’s wedding dress was also the perfect reflection of her “classic but untraditional” sense of style.  Originally created in a plum color for Eva Longoria for the 2007 Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the dress was not initially intended to be a wedding gown at all.

Even the small details were thoughtful, custom-made reflections of the couples’ style. Rachel hand made the wedding programs and sleeves that hung over the back of the ceremony chairs, keeping the programs tidy and convenient to guests despite the breezes offered by the Hudson River. The escort cards were also designed and hand made by Rachel, incorporating the same fonts and colors to perfectly match the couples’ Vera Wang stationery suite. The ceremony itself, which began at 5pm overlooking the Hudson River, was an inter-faith celebration of both Rachel’s Jewish heritage and George’s Catholic faith.  After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres and a country table brimming with local Hudson Valley cheeses and charcuterie, all served around the property’s pool. The reception was held just a few yards away, under a spectacular tent in the grass. Following the reception, Rachel and George treated guests to an after-party in the property’s historic barn, featuring pub food and a live concert by Philadelphia-area rock band, Laura Lea and Tripp Fabulous. On Sunday, guests said their good-byes to the couple over brunch by the property’s pool.
