We’re staying in Colorado this afternoon with a feature sent to us by the delightful Cori Cook! She and a team of amazing wedding professionals worked together with this very stylish bride and groom to create the prettiest-in-pink Colorado wedding ever at Villa Parker!

Jared and I met through a mutual friend (one of my bridesmaids) on 7/7/07- what a lucky day! He proposed to me on Valentines day two years later and we were engaged for a year and a half before we were married on 8/8/10.

When asked by my very talented photographer friend, Jared, and his fiancee, Rebecca, to photograph their wedding just outside of Denver, I couldn’t say no. Rebecca is a Hollywood fashion stylist and Jared is a high profile celebrity photographer. I remember adjectives such as: romantic, vintage and retro being used. They had a specific vision and knew it would be an incredible wedding! They chose the beautiful Villa Parker for the reception location and Erika and Molly went above and beyond to welcome us out-of-towners with their hospitality, even offering to pick up our photo equipment from the local photo lab for us. They did a wonderful job designing the event and I loved the floral arrangements, designed by Cori Cook Floral Design. The stunning bride wore a gown by Romona Keveza and the groom, a custom made suit. I love the unique bridesmaids dresses by Carmen Marc Valvo and the groomsmen suits by Asos . The bridesmaids gifts were original illustrations by the talented fashion illustrater Dallas Shaw.

Since Jared and I both lived in Los Angeles we were originally planning an LA wedding but since I grew up in Parker, Colorado part of me always wanted a hometown wedding so I finally entrusted my lovely mother to find the perfect venue with a mixture of indoor and outdoor elements that felt homey and romantic and where I could hang chandeliers from the trees! Once we found Villa Parker everything else fell into place. They have a great list of preferred vendors including Cori Cook Floral Design. Cori and I hit it off right away. She totally understood my romantic style and we both shared a love for SMP! Joan Allen, our photographer, was a friend of ours. We flew her in from LA to capture our big day!
Since I was raised Catholic and my groom is from a Jewish background it was very important to us that we shared both of our traditions during the ceremony. Our ceremony was held in the Catholic church I grew up in with both a priest and a rabbi officiating. This feat was tricky to pull off but of course all of the right people came together and it was beautiful and special. Our kiddush cup and chuppah were both from Jared’s family. At the reception we paid homage to our generations past by displaying wedding photos of our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents.
My family is so important to me so I will always vividly remember the warmth of having my mother help me get ready. I smile whenever I see the pictures of her and I in the brides room before the wedding. Having my father walk me down the aisle to meet Jared was very special as well. My veil was very long and dramatic so of course I tripped over it with my first step. It lightened the mood of the ceremony and once I arrived to meet my groom the whole congratulation laughed as he tried to find me through all the tulle of the veil. Seeing him all dressed up and ready to get married gave me butterflies all over again.
Jared and I both agreed that we didn’t want anything that felt “Wedding 101” we knew that we wanted the day to feel warm and intimate and to have a touch of glamour and a slight retro vibe since we both love that style. Jared’s groomsmen wore skinny suits in the style of the Beatles and my bridesmaids wore these cute pink brocade shift dresses that looked to me like a glam Jackie Kennedy. I had the girls wear red lipstick to up the vintage style of the wedding party.
I treated my bridesmaids to custom fashion illustrations by Dallas Shaw. They were so surprised and loved the very chic gift that captured each of their personalities and style! We had a few wedding favors for our guests including cotton candy with tags that read “Jared and Becca shared pink cotton candy on their first date, may their life together be just as sweet”. We arranged the cotton candy bunches by couples so they could share the sweet treat just as we had on our first date. On the back of the tags were the escort cards directing guests to their seats. Instead of traditional table numbers we marked tables with our favorite iconic celebrities like Lucille Ball, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Clark Gable etc. . .
At the end of the night we offered sparklers to each guest with a pack of custom matches that read “Jared and Becca, a perfect match”. The sparkler send off was one of my favorite parts of the night. It was exhilarating and fun and the perfect ending to a wonderful reception.
