A Radiant Colorado Bride ~ Photography by Chad Morgan

I feel like Luke & Kendra’s wedding should be on a super-sized billboard splashed across the Colorado highway! These two ~ dare I say kids? ~ are the epitome of freshness and loveliness and pure & natural LOVE!

Plus ~  I kind of feel like this young lady ought to be on America’s Next Top Model!

Kendra and Luke were married this past summer in a joy-filled (albeit tearful) Colorado ceremony …

Their overwhelming love for each other, and for their loved ones, showcased the day!

From the newlyweds …

How we met ~

We met on our first day of freshmen orientation at Wartburg College. I took note of his warm and firm handshake and his beautiful blue eyes. It turned out that we lived in the same dorm. We became great friends throughout our first semester, often taking long walks around campus to talk. All the while, we were both secretly fighting feelings for each other. Christmas break came and after talking on the phone for many hours, Luke decided to take a leap. He was waiting for me at the bottom of the escalator in the Des Moines airport when I flew back to Iowa in January.

The Proposal ~

We were spending the first half of the 2009 summer in different states, Luke in Wisconsin and I in Colorado. On June 27th, I was staying in a hotel for a night with best friend and my little sister during her basketball tournament. The hotel had a beautiful courtyard and gazebo (I have a thing for gazebos). My sister and I were walking back to our room, and as we started to cross the courtyard, I noticed a man standing in the gazebo. After some time, I realized the man was Luke. He was standing in the gazebo with roses and candles!

The Planning ~

My best friend’s mom was also our wedding planner, Willie Ripple. We wanted our wedding to incorporate the mountains, elegance, and a vintage feel. Also, because our faith is extremely important to us, we wanted to get married in a church. The church, overlooking the Continental Divide was the perfect mountain setting, and the Manor House, nestled in the foothills, provided the perfect vintage Colorado feel. (I am a Colorado girl and love all-things-vintage!)

Making it Their Own ~

Our ceremony was very faith-filled and spiritual because our faith is number one in our lives. We also focused a lot on the “legacy of love” that we were marrying into…years and years of wonderful, committed marriages. We honored all of our family members and their marriages by mentioning them in the ceremony and by displaying family wedding pictures (all the way back to our great-great-great grandparents) at the reception.

Most Memorable Moment (from the bride) … I remember Luke sobbing as I walked down the aisle. I remember turning around and looking at the whole congregation from the altar. I remember that the toasts were incredible…especially my sister’s and my best friends. And finally, I remember the EPIC dance party that ensued after dinner and dessert!!

Can’t remember a sweeter, more beautiful couple, ever ~
