From Jill La Fleur...

Living in California, I sometimes miss the charm of the beautiful homes on the East Coast. Luckily, my husband is from Connecticut, so we get the chance to go back and take it all in when we visit. I find that every time I go, I take pictures of the houses the entire time because I just love the Colonial style homes there. When we were looking for a place to live last year, I about fell over when I drove up the hill to find an actual replica of an East Coast Connecticut Colonial home in our Santa Ynez Valley! We of course moved in right away and I am so in love with this home! Our new/old home and my husband's home town were actually my inspirations for creating this shoot. I of course immediately think of Martha Stewart when I think of the East Coast and that gets me thinking about pale blue seersucker suits, eyelet, yellow gingham, coral peonies, pie carts and homemade jams. One of my favorite things about Connecticut is the wreaths you see on the doors and windows of the homes during the holidays. Since this was a summer shoot, I wanted to use white and yellow daisies for mine! This shoot took place at my actual home and I have to say I wanted to keep it decorated that way for weeks after and just have brunch outside every day! I thought it was the perfect summer garden wedding, brunch or bridal shower setting!
