We love all things vintage and this wedding inspiration shoot showcases some amazing old school charm. Typewriters, luggage and a tufted sofa? Swoon. Handkerchiefs and mercury glass? The cherry on top of this sweet sundae. We are oohing and awing over the details that Erin of Bustle added to create this sweet little shoot. All set against the breathtaking backdrop of Cline Cellars. Pretty darn dreamy. And can we please talk about the groom’s attire? All purchased for under $10 at a local Goodwill…. unbelievable! The inspiration for this shoot came to me while perusing a local antique shop. I came across a basket of vintage handkerchiefs, and selected my 6 favorites, which were all different but happened to have a touch of yellow embroidery. I wanted to create a soft, vintage, and timeless aesthetic to duplicate the feeling of the handkerchiefs. So naturally, I knew the color palette for the shoot would start with a soft yellow. Keeping in line with the aesthetic I wanted to create, I chose to tie in soft blush and grey, with just the slightest touches of gold to give the vineyard setting a regal effect.
Given the vineyard setting at Cline Cellars, I decided to mix in rustic elements such as wooden crossback chairs, and simple white square and round china rimmed with a textured embellishment, all provided by Hartmann Studios. Although there was a floral treatment down the center of the table, the focal point really became a wooden table number painted gold, which I nestled in an apothecary jar. The mix of materials used for the floral designs lent to the overall vintage and rustic feel of the table. Yasmin, the floral designer from Wildflower Event Florals chose to use a mixture of white peonies, soft yellow garden roses, blush and variegated yellow/green tulips, yellow craspedia (billy balls), white dinnerplate dahlias, bunnytail, dusty miller, and lambsear in the designs for the table as well as the bride’s bouquet. As a last minute decision and one of my faves, I decided to hang mecury glass vases from each chairback secured with twine, and Yasmin added a soft yellow garden rose to complete the look.
One of my favorite elements was a grey velvet tufted couch I came across while touring Hartmann Studios. The couch was framed with vintage suitcases from a local thrift shop and a white end table, along with other fun thrift shop finds such as an oversized mirror. To display the amazing cake made by Emmacakes, I chose to place it on a white modern console, set behind the couch. The escort cards were pinned to the trunk of a weepy willow tree. To draw attention to the tree and add a touch of chic elegance, I hung my signature chandelier. I always find a way to work in a good chandelier!
Finally, on to the fashion of it all. The groom’s vest, pants, and tie, were all purchased for under $10 at a local trhift shop. The bride wore 2 dresses – one short and one long. The short dress evoked a playful, flirty feel, while the long gown evoked elegance and romance. Both dresses and fabulous jewelry were provided by Haute Bride in SF.
