Personal, boisterous and rustic. Those were the three words the bride used as inspiration for her wedding, and boy did she get just that. Add whimsical, stunning and downright charming and you don’t even need the rest of this introduction. This Swedish Wedding brought to us by LBB member Kristy Rice at Momental Designs is just all around good. It also doesn’t hurt that the bride and groom are drop dead gorgeous. The invitation in their eyes accomplished so much more than simply providing information. Their invitation was to paint a picture, quite literally, of the events to come but in a whimsical and fun style to suit the couple’s magnetic personalities. At Momental, we get to know our brides in a real way, going far beyond simple questions regarding color palette and font choice. “How should this invitation make your guests feel?” is a more typical question heard during the Momental design process.
From the handsome Groom (we don’t get to hear from them often enough!):
We want to express to you the feeling of a late summer’s afternoon with golden sunlight trickling through the trees. Baskets of apples and pears. Relaxed smiles after happy vacations. Boisterous conversation and laughter over glasses of champagne and bottles of beer. Creamy cake with berries. Kind of a garden party/barbeque equals good wedding party! Not to forget: the two of us, of course. Have a look at the splendour of Monika’s lovely bouquet! I’m getting all carried away now, so I’d better stop.
A little from the stunning Bride:
We wanted our wedding to feel personal and reflect who we are so the invitations became very important as we wanted them to set the tone for the day to come. We chose to have our wedding in the late summer to allow the greenery to play it’s part in our outdoor ceremony and various decorations. To make a personal touch, I bought some handmade decorations on Etsy; items that can’t be found in Sweden.
My bouquet and the corsages were also important, as I am really into flowers and gardening. And since this was a Swedish-Polish-Scottish wedding we also incorporated small details from each culture. Colours became important even though we didn’t have any specific theme. The colours in Gordon’s kilt, my off white dress and the colours at the venue and in the surroundings set the theme for my accessories, our flowers, the invitations and various decorations.
Once funny memory is that our day had a clog theme! Since we had a countryside wedding I decided to wear clogs (modern high-heeled clogs but based on original 70’s models)-but it didn’t stop there. My mother held a speech about my love for clogs since I was little, and my bridesmaid’s speech also included clogs and ended with her presenting me with a custom made pair though I am happy I chose my comfy clogs to kept me dancing into the wee hours.
