Unique Wedding Week
April 10, 2008

Starting next week, we will be diving head first into a full week (or more) of brilliantly unique, personality filled real weddings. These aren't your standard, traditional affairs...instead, we are focusing on those weddings where the couple really infused their personalities into their big day, designing a style that was uniquely their own.

We've recruited our Little Black Book members, along with our readers, to send us their favorite Real Weddings...with budgets big and small, with styles quirky and romantic. For this series, anything goes. Here is a sneak peak at one of the weddings that I absolutely fell in love with, photographed by one of my favorite photography teams, Boutwell Studio...

So what made this wedding so unique? Here is Chenin from Boutwell to share some of the details...

Emika and Haj, the bride and groom were both Japanese and wanted to incorporate a tea theme in to their event. After their traditional Japanese ceremony, including a tea ceremony (of course!), they invited guests to enjoy tea, champagne, finger sandwiches and light appetizers. As they entered the dining room, guests each picked up a personalized jar of tea, which corresponded to the table they were assigned to.

Custom miniature wedding cakes acted as centerpieces, along with really architectural and understated flowers. It was really adorable! After the light luncheon, the bride and groom surprised their guests with In 'N Out hamburgers (the Mecca of California hamburger chains), grilled fresh right outside the dining room. It was such a beautifully thought-out event and was exactly what Emika and Haj planned for their day. It wasn't a super-fancy wedding, but it was truly one of my favorites!

I'll have a few more pictures from this beautiful event later today. In the meantime, if you (or one of your friends or family members) would like to submit their real wedding for our Unique Wedding Week, just send 10-15 photos (or a link to your photographs) and a description of your big day to me at abby at style me pretty dot com.
