So, we are FINALLY going to tackle some reader color palette dilemmas today. The first comes to us from Sarah, who is looking to do a slate grey and pink palette with touches of either gold or ivory. I chose to infuse the palette with ivory, as opposed to gold. Here is what I have come up with…
Grey dress by Loeffler Randall at Saks, Charcoal Suit by Ermenegildo Zegna on Brides, Pink Flowers by Modern Day Design, Invitation by Peculiar Pair Press, Tarnished Silver by Oh How Charming!, Flower Girl photo by Sarah Bussey
I actually chose to vary the shades of both the grey and the pink. The bridesmaids dresses are a light grey, paired with a bold pink flower. The groomsmen suits would be a slightly darker charcoal grey. Elements of rose and raspberry were brought in to add depth and dimension. If you use hues that are too similar, the end result will seem like blocks of color, rather than a cohesive palette.I would also suggest to Sarah, adding a vintage tarnished silver (as opposed to gold) to this palette.
I love that grey is the new chocolate brown. It brings a sense of sophistication to an event that screams elegance and style. So, if you are debating between chocolate and slate, try making a style board for each color. It will become instantly clear which hue is going to work for you!
We have a couple more palettes coming throughout the day, so check back soon!
