One thing I know for certain: Carrie Patterson totally rocks. And the weddings she captures? Always, always some of my favorites. Take for example this sweet Jackson Hole affair, aka, the perfect mix of rustic and romantic with a big ol’ dash of elegance thrown in for good measure. See all of the gorgeous details (including seriously stunning paper goods from Chick Invitations) right here.
And an amazing film from Moonstone Pictures for even more lovely…
From The Bride… Mountain towns and skiing have always held a special place in our hearts. Shortly after learning to walk, Nick and I both learned to ski. What united us after our graduation from Vanderbilt University was our career goals in medicine, our love of the outdoors, and of course our love of skiing. In early spring of 2011, Nick proposed while skiing at Beaver Creek Mountain with photographers in tow. This location was carefully chosen, as it is where I learned to ski. With this epic proposal, I knew that we would have to wed amidst the beauty of the mountains. Nick’s grandparents’ home in Jackson Hole, a destination where he skied as a child, provided the most incredible backdrop for our rustic and elegant wedding. Instead of fine paper invitations it was wood thanks to the design of Chick Invitations, instead of a ballroom it was a finished barn and a tent among the Tetons, instead of table numbers it was ski trails, and instead of crystal glassware it was ski boot shot glasses. Growing up, my mom and I used to say that my style was Shabby Chic. I wanted my wedding to portray this style, polished yet rustic.
Most of our guests were traveling from the East Coast, so we decided to make their long journey memorable. The weekend started with a cowboy themed welcome dinner at the Four Seasons and welcome bags put together by Jackson Hole Marketplace which included locally sourced items; huckleberry jam, buffalo jerky, and Kate’s Tram Bars Friday night, the rehearsal dinner was held at the Couloir. At the top of the Gondola, the views are unparalleled and the food was just divine. We envisioned our wedding day as one full of family and friends, a mountain backdrop, sunshine, colorful florals, plenty of libations, and an energetic band. We danced until we dropped and all aspects far exceeded our expectations and our day was absolutely magical.
The most memorable moment of our beautiful day was seeing Nick for the first time as I walked down the aisle. I had kept all of the details of my dress, veil, hair, and makeup a secret. His face was truly priceless and I am so lucky that my amazing photographer captured this moment.
We danced to Nizlopi’s “Love Is”. When Nick and I first started dating we were obsessed with this British band and would listen to their CD on repeat for hours. Although it is a song that not many people know, it held a lot of meaning for the two of us.
The menu featured Grilled Flat Iron Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Haricot Vert, Tarragon Chimichurrin paired with Seared Steel Head Trout with Chipotle Corn and Napa Cabbage Veegetable Slaw. Probably the biggest hit from the evening was the Pig Candy – a Bistro Catering secret: spicy candied bacon. Our friends are STILL talking about this and the band, Party Crashers. For any party in the west, Party Crashers knows how to make everyone put on their dancing shoes and sing their hearts out. What we wanted was an epic evening in a magnificent place-we truly couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day and are so thankful to all of our vendors, friends, and family for making our day perfect.
