A Classic Black And White Wedding With A Modern Twist

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Giselle and Zane wanted to keep their wedding palette clean and classic in black and white, with pops of gold. They are drawn toward clean lines and modern but classic touches. White and black fit the bill perfectly!

The overall aesthetic was a modern take on a clean and timeless look. They wanted to incorporate fun and unexpected elements throughout their day to keep guests excited and to bring in personal touches that made the wedding feel more customized.

Giselle and Zane were traveling around Thailand and one night Zane planned a private sunset dinner overlooking the ocean. Giselle was asking Zane to take what he recalls as “a million pictures” of her along the way, so he told her the view behind her looked amazing if she wanted to have him take some photos of her. When she turned around, he was down on one knee, and he asked her to marry him!

Giselle found her dress at Nyanza Bridal, where the owner Ashley helped her find her dream gown. On the wedding day she wore “Angelica” by Reem Acra, a strapless, re-embroidered French lace column gown with an exposed back and Chantilly lace corset detail. Giselle was one of the very last brides ever to have this dress, as it was discontinued right after she bought it. She is also the only one in the Pacific Northwest to have bought it, making it extra special!

The bridesmaids wore Jenny Yoo floor-length gowns in a beautiful soft blush color. Giselle loved how Jenny Yoo had a lot of clean, simple designs offered in a wide size range to accommodate all of her ladies. All the bridesmaids wore blush stone droplet earrings from Anthropologie that perfectly coordinated with their beautiful Jenny Yoo dresses.

The groom and groomsmen were all styled by Annette Dresser of J. Hilburn. Zane was dressed in a Windsor Blue Italian custom suit with a custom Italian white shirt with navy in the button thread. She paired these with an Italian navy tie, pocket square, and tobacco brown belt, and formal shoes from ToBoot. The groomsmen wore a similar look with a custom suit in storm blue twill-paired white shirts, Italian ties, tobacco shoes, and belts.

The bar was very important to this fun-loving couple! Their signature drinks were each named after their dogs. The bar signs featured painted images of each of their dogs next to their namesake drink. There was a “Peach Bellini” for their dog Peach which was served in a flute with a gold acrylic drink charm and there was a “Molly Mule” for their pup Molly that was served in a Moscow mule glass and sported a gold acrylic stirrer. They also had a stunning ice luge that featured a wedding bouquet frozen inside of it. This station had its own special cocktail that would be served through the luge and right into guests’ glasses. It was a fun and interactive moment for all the guests!

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

We wanted to keep the floral timeless and classic while still making a statement. Sal Floral Design stuck with an all-white color palette with plenty of polished greenery. We achieved a sophisticated, whimsical, and classic look that was entirely Giselle and Zane!

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Giselle and Zane are big candy people and their wedding was 100% going to reflect that! They had a small ornate cutting cake with a beautiful flower petal design by The SweetSide, along with a massive dessert bar. Since M&Ms are one of their favorite treats, we served custom M&Ms with their monogram and wedding date on them.

Favors were another great opportunity to show off Giselle and Zane’s personality and wedding story. Their favors were custom-made boxed candles, each with a drawing of their venue and their wedding logo in gold foil. This was paired with custom matchboxes featuring a coordinating venue and wedding date graphic. “A Perfect Match” was displayed as the sign on their favor table, and guests could use their candle sets to remember Giselle and Zane’s special day over and over again!

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]After seeing a live wedding painter at a friend’s wedding, Giselle & Zane knew they had to have one when they tied the knot! They hired artist Greg Kalamar to paint their wedding celebration and now have this beautiful keepsake hanging in their house as a memento for years to come. [/field]

A Classic Green and White Wedding on Lake Washington for These High School Sweethearts

After two date changes due to COVID (is anyone else so tired of hearing that word or is it just us?!), these adorable high school sweethearts finally tied the knot in a stunning ceremony overlooking the sparkling waters of Lake Washington. With a little help from Simply By Tamara Nicole, the couple found creative ways to keep the safety of their guests their #1 priority, without sacrificing style. To see every last steal-worthy detail, check out the full gallery – captured to perfection by Blue Rose Photography!

From the Bride… It all began during our last year in high school where we met in a marketing class, Theo and I became good friends. Fast forward 4 years after graduation we went on our first date where our story began! We started traveling near and far going on adventures together. In December 2018 Theo proposed in Disneyland, our happy place. Once we returned we booked a wedding venue in Woodinville for July 11th,2020. We had an amazing time planing our wedding with Tamara from SimplyTamaraNicole, putting together a dream team of vendors.

My hopes for the wedding was a magical simple black and gold theme with white and neutral flowers. Our team did not disappoint. However 2020 had other plans for us, but this did not discourage us from saying I do. With our team we got creative and booked a new date August 23rd, 2020 at our Woodinville venue. We had to dial it down to a more intimate guest list, which was hard knowing our family would not be able to join us from out of town. However we planned on live steaming our wedding which gave all of our family members the opportunity to be there virtually which all gave us a little peace.

When Covid-19 threw a curve ball again and state restrictions we changed our date one final time to August 3rd,2020 at a beautiful venue in Kirkland, the Woodmark hotel. We thought this was meant to be, as we were both born and raised in Kirkland. Tamara and our team made the wedding magical. There were white flowers, gold touches and beautiful candles around our whole venue. We had a gorgeous flower arch that served as our alter, which looked on to Lake Washington. We took safety precautions such as masks, and hand sanitizer with small details that made them classy, we didn’t plan on needing these items when we started to plan but they all fell into place as if they were suppose to be there the whole time. Signage was dispersed around the venue with fun verbiage to keep our guests safe. We will never forgot our beautiful day, and we are thankful for our wedding day, being able to celebrate the only certainty during this difficult time, our love. We will never forget August 3rd,2020.

A Waterfront Wedding With Great Classic Style

Whenever a bride has great personal style I know a really good wedding is about to follow. And no surprise that was exactly the case with this bride, Erika. She rocked a stunning illusion neckline gown with statement glitter flats and it all set the scene for a wildly romantic day in the Pacific Northwest. Blue Rose Photography came along to capture the love and let’s just say their images are ones for the books.

Erika and Arjay’s Woodmark Hotel Wedding was a fairytale! Her gown was the first thing that really knocked my socks off. I saw it laying on the bed as I walked in and I knew this was going to be one of my favorite weddings. I am so inspired by fashion and design and romantic elements that this dress just hit all of those for me. The rest of the day I photographed everything with her gown in mind, trying to mimic the romantic feeling and the softness it exuded. The romantic boat ride on a vintage wooden boat is such a cool part of getting married at this venue. Erika and Arjay are both so sweet and their wedding day just went really smooth and it was easy and relaxed. I’m sure a lot of this has to do with their great wedding planner Emily from Sweet Pea Events.

From Katy Roberts of VOWSThe Altig family (groom’s family) are well known in the Seattle suburb of Kirkland; they are a big and active family, devout Catholics, kind and generous…they also have a farm in the middle of the city! Parents Rick & Lisa bought the large property in the Kirkland Highlands in the 80s then raised their family of 4 there. It was the dream of first daughter, Natalie, to get married in this special place so we did that on the pool deck in 2010. The tradition continued with Richie Altig (eldest son) wanting to do the same. His love of the animals took us down to the farm property.

Among the boisterous turkeys, lamas, goats, a mini horse (who loved to eat flowers, we later learned!), and a donkey named Burrito is a heavily slanted orchard which was determined large enough for a tent to fit 275 guests – perfect! We brought in the experts and the vision became reality. It took 5 days and 10 men to build the staging, install the hardwood-like flooring, grand staircase, railings, catering ramp, and to erect the gorgeous Tidewater Tent on the Altig Family Farm.

Words beautiful bride Brita described as her vision were: romantic, timeless, chic. Our palette was the softest of blush, greens, ivory, and taupe. We used a variety of table shapes and sizes to fill the grand white tent: farm tables, large, medium and small rounds with different textured linens to bring interest. Each place setting was adorned with vintage flatware, layered chargers of gold rimmed glass and floral print vintage china, gorgeous menus describing the lucky guests’ 6 course, Italian-inspired meal (Mom’s side is Italian).

The groom and groomsmen got ready in the 100-year-old cabin at the base of the property that had been moved by the family from Kirkland’s waterfront before it was demolished. The Altigs refurbished it staying as true to the time it was built as possible. The girls got ready in an extension of the main house in a well-appointed guest apartment next to a private dance studio where Brita and her girls spent a lot of time practicing (Brita is a Sea Gal for the Seattle Seahawks).

The day was a dream though rain did flirt with us (it is Seattle after all). Traditional Catholic ceremony with mass, then a send-off in Grandpa’s Vintage Model A. A sea of greens and romantic flowers awaited them at the reception including a stunning, one of a kind, floral backdrop behind their head table. The night was full of great food, entertaining toasts, and roaming animals per the family’s request. The mini horse spent hours looking at his reflection in our porta potty waiting area’s vintage vanity. He was the hit of the night!
