A Monterey Wedding that will Make You Fall Hard for Boho Style Elegance

There is a signature Beijos Events style that always involves beautiful florals, bright pops of color and an elegant bohemian feel and we just can’t get enough of it. Now enter this Monterey gem and it is right in keeping with all that pretty. Crafted with blooms and garland by Wild Child Flowers, a whole lot of great signage by Meghann Miniello and all the heart-felt moments captured by Yasmin Sarai, this is a wedding gallery so worth getting lost in.

From Beijos Events… I might be biased but this was the perfect couple, and the perfect wedding to design and plan. The bride is my beautiful sister, Ally. She was the easiest bride to deal with; you think it would be opposite since it was a sibling. She had complete trust in me and pretty much didn’t ask any questions. She wanted something very simple, pretty, and it had to include pink flowers, and most of all it had to be a party, not a typical wedding. Those were my rules. All she wanted was to have the best party every, and for all family and friends to join in with them. What was most special is that she had no idea what expect the day of, so just like the guests, she was getting the 1st look at she walked down the aisle.

We first found Memory Garden while getting lunch at Portola Hotel, and stumbled upon this quiet and hidden gem. She immediately fell in love, and that was it. Abby, you work out the rest of the details to make this happen here, she said. And so I did. Having a small space to work with was quite a challenge to get both the ceremony and reception setup in the same location. Along with over 200 people she invited. It was an intimate wedding party, just siblings and the cutest flowers girls and ring bearers that I have ever seen. Ok, I’m biased.. Having two be my littles and my niece and nephew.

Wild Child Flowers created an amazing floral greenery cacti backdrop which flowed up the stairs to where Ally and Jared would say I do. The ceremony was very non-traditional, it was all about Ally + Jared and to celebrate becoming one. All the readings were not out of the Bible, or a particular traditional wedding poem, or even a typical song lyric. They were rap song lyrics from 2pac and Biggie Smalls which somehow totally made sense while they were being read out loud. The officiant was our cousin who married my husband and I back in 2010. It’s pretty special you can say family married you.

For the reception, we had long wooden tables that were placed among the breathtaking garden. The table setting consisted of rose gold flatware, vintage pink glassware from Danny Thomas, and blush leather name cards done by Meghann Miniello. Each table had a wooden laser cut table number as well. Bright hues of pinks and corals flowers filled up the tables. To find your place, Meghann Miniello created a wooden sign that was adorned with floral greenery from Wild Child Flowers.

The night was filled with hilarious speeches, and heartfelt ones as well. Family and friends ate and drank One Hope Wine and signature cocktails under the stars. Our family is known for cutting up a rug at weddings, and this one goes down in the books. Most of the songs will usually be Michael Jackson, and you will find every single family member on the dance floor. Even myself that has no moves what so ever. Even grandma got out there and busted a move or two! We honored those were not with us anymore that were a huge part in our lives. My grandma made a red heart out of one of my grandpa’s old favorite ties, and gave each granddaughter one that she sewed into our dresses. We placed a always remember wooden sign on an empty chair for Jared’s uncle who had just recently passed away. This was truly one magical night for two people so in love, and I couldn’t have been more proud and honored to help make it the night they will remember forever.

Pretty in Pink Wine-Country Wedding Inspo

I could attempt to describe the heart behind this inspiration shoot, but I’m pretty certain the amazing photographer, Christine Donee said it best. “Blending modern designs, like the bubble gum backdrop, with the natural environment of the vineyard allowed us to find that perfect balance of femininity and edge.” Creative partners like Page BeautyEllamah, Casa de Perrin, Found Vintage Rentals, and many more brought that sentiment to life and we’re so ready to devour every last image.

“I believe in pink.” – Audrey Hepburn

Inspired by the jaw-dropping garden roses that were in season, we wanted to create a fresh take on incorporating pink hues with your wedding day style. Blending modern designs, like the bubble-gum backdrop, with the natural environment of the vineyard allowed us to find that perfect balance of femininity and edge.

Jessica of Ellamah was able to create playful designs by combining pops of pink to the darker, more rustic foliage of the season. These pink-infused beauties worked with the venue’s natural environment – so as not to look out of place – with hints of dark blue berries as a nod to the lush grapes in the vineyard.

From the bright pink backdrop to the subtle shade of blush in the invitation suite, we incorporated different hues into every moment. In other words, we let our love for pink run wild!

An Entire Wedding Inspired by a Single Piece of Fabric

I love when a wedding design is propelled by a single point of inspiration. And in this case, it was a simple piece of soft blue fabric found by the bride and her mom. That ribbon was a representation of the simple yet elegant day Claire and Robert wanted, and it resulted in a timeless celebration beautifully captured by Katie Grant.

From Katie Grant PhotographyClaire and Robert wanted a simple yet elegant wedding. A good band was a must along with a DJ to fill in the pauses. With both being busy doctors, they enlisted the help of Cathrin D’Entremont Weddings to help plan and style their wedding.

It all started with a piece of fabric Claire and her mum found in the perfect color blue. The dark Brentwood chairs for the ceremony and the Hampton chairs for the reception accompanied with custom-made napkins made from this perfect blue fabric. With the pre-dinner drinks being an hour long, we needed a stand-out seating chart.

Claire’s father was the perfect candidate to build this triangle tower where the seating cards were mounted. The middle table at the reception was the bridal table which was made to stand out with lanterns hanging in varying heights above. A dessert and cheese buffet followed the perfect meal, and everyone danced the evening away to the tunes of the band.

7 Things Your Bridal Consultant Should Tell You

From bridal consultant to blushing bride; I have walked in both shoes. After working with hundreds of brides, steaming thousands of dresses, and consoling countless over-emotional MOB’s (Mother of the Bride), I learned what it takes to be a great bridal consultant. I juggled brides of all shapes, sizes, budgets, and emotions, and sold them the dress of their dreams. During that time, I learned what a huge difference the right bridal consultant can make and here’s exactly what they should tell you at your appointment…

“You Look Beautiful”

Wedding dress shopping can bring out insecurities in any bride. Feeling insecure is a common emotion to have, however the appointment should leave you feeling confident and beautiful. The right bridal consultant will recognize the features that make you unique and beautiful and she will not only find a dress to accentuate those features; she will vocalize that to you.

“You Should Try Something New”

It’s common for a bride to be so set on a dress style before she has even walked into a bridal salon. That can be helpful for the appointment, however the right bridal consultant will push you out of your comfort zone and encourage you to try something a little different. You would be surprised at how many brides end up saying “yes” to a dress that’s opposite of what they originally thought they wanted.

“The Price of the Dress is…”

Some brides save up for their wedding dress for years. Others; their Dad pays in full on the spot. No matter where you are financially, your bridal consultant should be very honest with you about the price of a dress. If you want to try on a dress that is out of our budget, your bridal consultant should kindly tell you so that you are mentally prepared. A bridal consultant is not there to trick you or make you feel bad. She should be making this financial decision as easy as she can for you.

“Tell Me How You’re Feeling”

There are times in an appointment where your Mom will not stop crying about how beautiful you look, your Sister is making passive aggressive comments, and your Grandma is noticing (and criticizing) your tattoo for the first time (sorry Grandma)! So when a bridal consultant is alone with you in the dressing room, she should catch on to your emotions and ask you how you’re feeling. With so many exciting, and nerve-wracking emotions; someone needs to help you calm down when the entourage is getting exhausting, and who better to do it than the consultant.

“It’s Time to Stop Looking”

Even after you have tried on a dress that you love, you may feel the need to keep looking. This can be a slippery slope and cause you to become more and more confused about which dress you like the best. I remember my boss finally telling an overwhelmed bride that she needed to stop. When you find a dress you love, (similar to when you find a significant other that you love) you do not keep looking. You may like characteristics in another dress (or person) but that does not mean you need to keep shopping around. When you have found the one you truly love, let that be the one.

“This is How the Dress Bustles”

Trumpet, ball gown, sheath, or mermaid… each silhouette bustles a little differently. Your bridal consultant knows how each dress shape bustles and she should be able to show you at your appointment. The bustle can make the dress look different in the back so it is important for you to know exactly how the dress will look at each moment of your wedding.

“Here’s What to Expect Post Purchase…”

Each bridal salon has specific rules and details you will need to know after you have put the deposit down on your dress. Some have rules of when the full payment is due, others specify whether or not they will store the dress for you once the dress arrives, and whether or not they offer alterations services. No matter the rules and expectations, you will want to make sure you’re fully aware so that there are no surprises months later.

Shopping for a wedding dress is a special and exciting time for every bride. The right bridal consultant will make you feel prepared and beautiful, all while keeping the end goal in mind; helping you marry the person of your dreams.
