Baby Shower by True Event + Leila Brewster Photography

We've noticed this trend in baby showers lately. They are of course inspired by little ones, but there is this element of chic built into the day that sort of transcends the whole shower thing. And serves as inspiration for basically any party on the planet. Which is exactly why we think you're going to love this particular shower that the girls at True Event threw for their lovely leading lady Sarah True. With stunning flowers by...

A Surprise Party, Part III

Okay, you've seen the inspiration board and the invitation sketches and I'm hoping that you love the concept as much as I did. Organic, glamorous, intimate, warm and modern. All wrapped up into one big ball of pretty. Two of the areas that we really wanted to concentrate on for our Surprise Party were the bar area - which would include a fun pink champagne +...

A Surprise Party, Part II

Once you have your vision nailed down, it's time to start conceptualizing each piece. Starting with the paper goods, as it's those invitations that have to be popped into the mail before the rest of the party comes to fruition. And the paper pieces for this wedding ended up taking center stage. When we were conceptualizing everything, we really felt inspired by watercolor and calligraphy. Handcrafted pieces that addes a sense of art to our...

A Surprise Party, Part I

We have such a treat for you today. It's a party, of course. But it's so much more than that because today, we're really breaking it apart, getting down to the nitty gritty and showing you how to design a beautiful celebration from inspiration to the last toast. Starting the way we always start on SMP...with an inspiration board. Because we whole heartedly believe that whether you are planning a wedding, or a surprise birthday party like this one, that having a refined inspiration board will...

"Gillian and Nate love to ski and have spent many vacations together doing so.  However they live and work in Boston and their wedding was to be held in the city, on the water, at the Boston Harbor Hotel. We wanted to create an elegant, city chic wedding combined with traditional New England winter details ...

Connecticut Wedding with Nautical Know How

You are about to see my personal wedding Achilles heel. This is my all time ultimate wedding weakness. We all have one - for some it's the DIY backyard wedding and for others it's the elegant ballroom wedding.  Mine is the classic, New England wedding with nautical inspiration.  I can't pin point what exactly it is that makes me crumble each and every time I see one executed to perfection, but as soon as I lay eyes on the rope knots, or the sailboats, or the nautical flags my heart sets...

Holiday Wedding Inspiration by Lucinda Wesson, III

As with most photoshoots, it takes an army of people to really bring it to life. Here are some thoughts from the major players behind today's eye candy!

From the photographer, Anna Sawin...This incredible visual feast, laid out in sumptuous colors, tones and textures as far as the eye could see, was a photographer’s field day, particularly against the stunning winter backdrop of Elihu Island and the cozy family...

Holiday Wedding Inspiration by Lucinda Wesson, II

There is something completely magical about today's photoshoot. It's very Anthropologie, very dreamy. It's the kind of life that I live inside of my crazy imagination and to see that really come to life is such a treat. Designed by Lucinda Wesson of Chocolate Creative Design, along with help from some of our favorite Connecticut vendors (see full list below)...

Holiday Wedding Inspiration by Lucinda Wesson

Today is another sparkly, glittery, all together lovely day on Style Me Pretty. Since weddings are winding down for the year, we thought it would be fun to feature a stunning, holiday inspired photoshoot that a handful of our favorite vendors designed just for SMP.

I have a huge soft spot in my heart for our Connecticut Vendors as they are just this rare little group of designers who are...

From Inspiration to Reality: The Design, Part III

There were quite a few really amazing vendors that took the time to contribute in HUGE ways to our shoot. For one, the lovely and oh so talented Yumiko of Hana Floral Design did all of the flowers for us, focusing on simple, adorable blooms. She used carnations, which are a super cute and really affordable alternative, that she packed tightly into little, red latte bowls. She also used ranunculus, dahlias and spider mums tucked...
