Homemade French Fries + Garlic Aioli Dipping Sauce

French fries, we can't quit you. Shoestring, steak-cut and everything in between, the deep-fried spud is the starch of our dreams, which is why we're obsessed with this recipe for homemade fries with garlic aioli dipping sauce from Waiting on Martha. Fresh-cut Idaho potatoes are cooked to your preference and given a generous sprinkling of salt, pepper, fry seasoning and cayenne. Let me repeat: garlic aioli dipping sauce. If that's not enough to you...

Honey Thyme Lemonade with Sugared Blackberries

One of my fondest memories as a child was icy cold lemonade from the summer carnival.  Served in an extra large styrofoam cup with whole squeezed lemons and loads of sugar I find myself craving this summer time staple whenever warmer weather begins to appear.  But try as I may I've never been able to quite master the recipe.  So instead of mess with my idea of perfection I've found it better to simply create an inspired by version.   My latest spin; a honey infused thyme lemonade with...

Marshmallow Cereal Bars

If you're still reaching for Rice Krispies the next time you whip up marshmallow treats, you could be missing out on some serious fun. Homemade marshmallow cereal bars are a longtime favorite of Waiting On Martha. "But why have I been using only one type of cereal all these years?" she asks; hence, these yummy bars were born.  Waiting On Martha experimented with Trix, Cocoa Puffs, and a mix of...

The Paloma

On a recent trip to Mexico the Mr. and I fell in love with a little cocktail called The Paloma.  The Paloma combines tequila with the tart and fresh flavors of grapefruit and lime juice to create the most refreshing of libations.  Typically The Paloma is topped with a lime or grapefruit wedge, but I really love adding a slice or two of jalepenos for some heat or a fresh sprig of mint to cool it down. Truly, MKR  Either way you shake it, or top...

How to Wrap the Perfect Present

While there are so many different things about this time of year I love, I must say wrapping gifts for my loved ones may trump them all. It's a tradition my family takes very seriously. There may even be a yearly competition between my father and I. I always win obviously (just don't tell him that). And over the years I've picked up a few tricks of the family trade I thought I'd share with you all. Happy Holidays Loves! xoxo, Mandy of...

Bruleed Grapefruit & Gin Fizz

In preparation for the many celebrations this time of year naturally brings I've been trying to step outside my comfort zone and create new cocktail combinations. Case in point; my Bruleed Grapefruit & Gin Fizz. By combining the sugary-caramelization from bruleeing with the natural tartness of grapefruit and topping it all off with a dash of lime and a sprig of thyme you'll be toasting this season with the most perfect of sips. Cheers!

Tales Of The Wild Botanicals

Hey guys, Mandy here from Waiting on Martha. I admit it, I'm a sucker for pretty packaging often buying something based on the box it comes in rather than the product itself. So when I discovered Tales of the Wild, a natural, organic botanical company located near the edge of the sea on Vancouver Island, B.C. I was immediately smitten. From perfumes and mists to...

Easy Summer Gathering

There's nothing I enjoy more than summer nights dining al fresco with my nearest and dearest. I recently gathered friends and set the table with a Mexican inspired meal highlighting summer's flavors. Fresh watermelon, yellow corn, Georgia peaches, and all the heirloom tomatoes I could find. I don't know about you, but after the winter we all had, I'm trying to squeeze every ounce out of summer I can! Truly, MKR...

Mint Watermelon Margarita

When summer rolls around I try to use my absolute favorite fruit, watermelon, in any and every way I can.  So the other night when tiring of my standard margarita and with a bowl full of fresh cut watermelon in the fridge I thought, "yes a watermelon margarita must happen."  And happen it did.  The sweetness of fresh watermelon juice combined with refreshing mint sprigs, tart lime, and tequila will have you sipping all summer long.  truly...

How to Prepare for House Guests

You see, I take the act of hosting very seriously and this act is all about the prep work! Prep work I've got down to five easy steps - it starts with a cocktail (of course) and ends with breakfast. Five easy steps I thought I'd share with you all. Happy weekend! Truly, MKR No. 1 - Ready the...

Mint Julep, Three Ways

I've always had a love for The Kentucky Derby. Maybe it's because it falls on my birthday each year? Maybe it's because I'm fond of any event you can wear extra large hats and dainty lace gloves to? Or maybe, and let's be honest, most likely it's because of the mint juleps. The crisp combination of Kentucky bourbon and mint leaves in a silver julep cup, well it just doesn't get any more classic and...

Makeup Tutorial: A Bold Eye and Perfectly Pink Lip

I am, admittedly, low maintenance when it comes to my makeup routine. I've been using the same products, the same steps, the same everything for longer than I'd care to admit and it's high time I step it up. Though I'm not one to go over the top with my routine, I feel confident that Mandy and Claudia's easy 5 step guide to a bold...

Best Ever Bloody Mary

Whether you're enjoying Sunday brunch, tailgating with friends, or a happy hour libation, there's never a bad time for a Bloody Mary. Truth be told, I consider myself somewhat of an aficionado. In fact, I've been perfecting my recipe for years! Borrowing a little inspiration from the River Run Lodge in Idaho, to The Lantern in Illinois. And after all this time, I finally feel like I've perfected it. Enjoy! Truly, MKR...

Sweet Potato Au Gratin from Waiting on Martha

So I'm not sure if you knew this, but on Thanksgiving calories don't count. It's true. I double checked. And that's especially good news because Waiting on Martha's recipe for sweet potato au gratin is anything but low fat. With layers of cheese and cream and all sorts of incredible delicious goodness. But I swear it's worth every calorie laden bite. My stomach's rumbling already.
