From the Bride… I was once told “the best love story is when you fall in love with the most unexpected person at the most unexpected time.” My love story began five years ago with a first date at Coal Vines in Downtown Dallas. We were set up through a mutual friend but due to bad relationship experiences in the past and being consumed with graduate school, I didn’t have very much interest or high expectations. Little did I know that that one date would change my life so much! Victor would propose three years later.

I had dreamed of purchasing my wedding dress with my mother at my side. Unfortunately, my mother had lost her battle to cancer. For months, I was holding off on buying the dress because I knew it would be an emotional day. When I did go, it was so discouraging since I had tried on several dresses and had not yet experienced that ‘aha moment”. I was down to one dress and when I put it on, tears instantly flowed. I had found my dress. I wanted to make my mother a part of my wedding day and wrapped her necklace around my bouquet. Holding it brought me a lot of peace, and made the day feel all the more meaningful. I felt her presence and I knew she was smiling and enjoying in the day with me.

We had a small wedding with our closest friends and family at Marie Gabrielle. To me, finding the venue is as important as finding the right wedding dress. I had envisioned a timeless and elegant, black tie garden wedding affair, and Marie Gabrielle was perfect with its beautiful grounds. My favorite moment of the wedding was reading our vows. In declaring our love to each other in front of all, I felt like a modern day princess marrying her prince charming.

As Victor and I are both Hispanic, we wanted to incorporate our Latin roots by having a mariachi band. Our DJ also made sure to play a blend of salsa, merengue, bachata and American dance music. We are blessed to have family and friends travel from around the world to be there for our wedding. It made an already wonderful day even more special. Thank you to all the amazing vendors for making our fairytale wedding come true!

The Prettiest Shade of Purple for a Vintage Farm Wedding

This Texas farm wedding is all about embracing the “old” woven in with the “new.” The bride, Meredith carried her grandmother’s handkerchief and sourced antique furniture for a vintage vibe but paired those touches with new traditions like a choreographed dance with her groom, Jacob. From Michelle Boyd Photography… Meredith and Jacob’s day was so very dear to my heart. I’ve known Meredith for almost ten years and their marriage has been long awaited by all their close friends and family. I’ve often thought Meredith had an “old soul,” and it was so evident throughout the day, from their use of vintage chairs and antique furniture straight from Meredith’s house to carrying her Grandmother’s handkerchief as her something old.

Jacob’s joy and excitement were contagious from the moment the men arrived to get ready. When I asked him to show me how excited he was to marry his beloved, well…you’ll be able to spot that photo all by yourself! From practicing her first dance with her father to surprising their guests with their own choreographed rendition of “I’ve Had The Time of My Life,” neither Meredith nor Jacob stopped smiling – not for a single second – throughout the whole day!

From the Event Designer… It is always my goal to create and plan an event that is uniquely personal to my clients as a couple. Catherine and Vishal hired me about nine months prior to their wedding because Catherine was feeling overwhelmed, as most brides do, about the wedding planning process. This multi cultural Indian/American wedding was more American in style but it was still important to my clients to bring in some traditional Indian elements. Nature and the outdoors were very important and we found a private residence to host their event. The Wedding took place during the Fall season in Texas. When Catherine and I had our creative meeting, she told me about her dream of an outdoor fete that was “very French”. She gravitated towards dusty blue and blush colors, which seemed a bit spring, in my opinion. After some deliberation we decided that pops of cranberry would accent the color palette well and fit in with the Fall season. Deep red also a symbolizes love in Indian weddings which was a great way to infuse the two cultures together a bit more. After months of designing, planning and much anticipation Catherine and Vishal were married under the most beautiful floral chandelier in front of 120 friends and family. They later dinned, laughed and danced the night away under festoon lights. Both, Catherine and Vishal are such beautiful people both inside and out and I so loved working with them to plan and design their wedding day!

Simple, elegant, and beyond perfect… three words that come to mind as I mull over the collection from this couple’s big day! With multiple shades of blue and spring florals featuring pops of blush and peach, the soft color palette perfectly compliments the clean space of the venue. This Dallas Fete is the Kind Winter White Wedding Dreams are Made Of

I was thissss close to doing an all white wedding (paired with champagne hues) and this Dallas affair from Mint Photography is exactly why. It’s classic. It’s timeless. And oh, is that my favorite kind of wedding my friends. Just one look at The Vault and you’ll be ooh-ing and ahh-ing too, I assure you.

From Mint Photography… Kristi and Brent had an amazingly elegant winter wedding in Dallas. Kristi chose to keep the color scheme crisp with all white florals, and gorgeous white bridesmaids dresses. The outcome was stunning! We loved so much about this wedding, but what we especially love is that despite the rainy and chilly weather we were able to still capture beautiful naturally lit images! We always hope that our clients will trust us to capture cohesive images despite obstacles and we think this wedding shined even without a sunny day! P.S. How about those adorable pups and that custom hand painted bottle of Jo Malone! Obsessed.

From the Bride… In another life my twin sister and I would have been wedding planners. Instead, we are both dentists who throw a lot of parties for our friends and family. We’ve had a love for cake, parties, and design since we were little. I’ve always been extremely particular and detail oriented. White or as I say “cream” has been my favorite color since I was a little girl so much so that my furniture, car, and puppy are all white. White long stem roses are my favorite flowers and the winter holiday season is my most favorite time of year. The idea of all white roses and a winter wedding was a very easy decision for me. I did a play on the Christmas song “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of Year” in reference to both our marriage and the holiday season. It was all the little details that I spent countless hours planning with the help of my twin sister. It was incredibly important to me to have personal touches that made the day special for not only me. but my husband and all of my family and friends.

My husband is the president of Dallas Safari Club Conservation Society and is a passionate and avid water fowl hunter. I had our party favors made by a local Dallas chocolatier which was special in itself as we both met and have a love for Dallas. Our party favors served as both a place card and favor, but most importantly as a personal touch of my husband. The party favors were gold dusted chocolate mallard ducks and turned out beautifully! Additioanally, his groomcake had our bird dog, Duckie, made of icing with a duck and our wedding videographer was actually a dear friend who films for Safari Classics, a hunting show.

We included our grandparents who celebrated with us from above by having a table at the reception in honor of each of them. A table was named for each of them and included their picture as well as a number to help with the seating chart. It was a really special way to pay tribute to them. Also, my grandparents’ wedding cake topper from 1947 was on display at the wedding. Lastly, our welcome boxes for out of town guests included gingerbread men cookies that my twin and I made from my grandmother’s cookie cutter and recipe since that was something we always did with her during the holidays.

For my bridesmaids, I treated them to a bridesmaid lunch at a quaint French restaurant. I did a play on “Cheers to Buds” and gifted them with a beautiful ornament of each of their dogs and earrings (ear buds) for the wedding since our fur babies are like our children to us.

The detail that was truly so special to me was my gift to my maid-of-honor and twin. I gifted her with a “twin ring” that I designed and my husband’s close friend who is a diamond dealer created for both of us. I had the stone taken out of old rings that we both had when we were little girls, but no longer wear, set in an intertwined diamond rose gold band to represent our lives that have been completlely intertwined. The stone happened to be a blue topaz which made our matching rings more special as topaz is the state gemstone of Texas where we are from. When I got engaged, my twin wanted a diamond ring to wear too. Now, my twin has her own diamond ring and a something blue. The rings will become heirlooms that we are able to pass on to our children for their weddings. She loves her ring and lights up telling everyone about the story behind it.

Other small details included a custom monogram that we used everywhere from stamps, wax seals, welcome boxes, menu cards, and programs. Instead of a photo booth, we created a photo back drop with Christmas tree where my photographers took family holiday pictures of our guests. We gifted our guests with these pictures for them to use for their Christmas cards if they wished. I love receiving Christmas cards so this was special for us to do since it’s not often that you have professional photographers available to snap family pictures!

One really unique thing about our wedding is that our wedding vendors are not only Dallas vendors. Our vendors are from all over Texas! Being that my twin and I have a love for cake, we fell in love with The Cake Stand, a bakery in McKinney, Texas when we stumbled across the bakery while doing a rotation in dental school. We’ve been getting all our cakes from them for years now, and I can’t tell you how many people comment on their cakes! All of my invitations were created by Emmalie Welstead from Crop Paper Scissor in Waco, Texas where my twin and I are from. She is amazing. She executes everything perfectly, and is the nicest person to work with. Our photographer is from Austin, Texas. Kelly from Mint Photography is incredible, and so easy to work with. She helped in so many ways beyond photogarphy on my wedding day. I spent a lot of time selecting my vendors and making sure that their personality and style matched my vision.

For our wedding I envisioned an all white winter wedding that was classic, elegant, and grand yet simple and not over the top. All of the special details and personal touches that Lacy and I planned truly achieved that vision and made the day filled with love for everyone.

Style Me Pretty Blogger Bride ‘Livvyland’ Wedding Reveal

Do you all love following our Blogger Brides‘ wedding journeys as much as I do? It’s always a pop-the-bubbly kind of day around here when one of our beauties gets hitched, and Olivia of Livvyland is no exception. From her adorbs mistletoe moment last year to how she picked her bridal accessories and now, her gorgeous shindig captured by Laura Morsman. So, raise your glass and head to The Vault with us—it’s a doozy.

From the Bride, Olivia Watson… Ohh my heart! It is still surreal to look back at these photos and relive such a special day. After a year of planning, showers, tastings, dress fittings and so much more, I had the honor of marrying my very best friend in front of our closest friends and family. Amidst the grounds of Villa Del Lago overlooking beautiful Lake Travis in Austin, Texas, with the sun glowing and a string quartet playing “Across The Universe” by The Beatles (the movie we saw on our first date in high school), we promised to stand beside each other as husband and wife forever moving forward. It was a day filled with so much love and happiness, unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before.

The inspiration behind our wedding was a pairing of classic glamour and whimsical romance. My grandmother’s sense of style always had a big impact on me growing up – she had such an old Hollywood grace about her, and I wanted to honor her aesthetic as I chose my dress, jewelry and hairstyle for the wedding. Though I tried on what felt like hundreds of dresses, when I slipped into my gown, I knew right away it was the one. My mom wore my grandmothers satin wedding dress, and it has the same neckline and overall silhouette as the one I chose. It felt like fate finding my dress, and it was a beautiful way for me to celebrate my sweet Mimi on our wedding day. From my satin gown with a statement bow at the back, to the festoon lighting strewn above our dinner table stretching across the lawn, the overall vision for our wedding came together perfectly. I remember taking a moment while seated at dinner to look down the table and relish in such a special moment with those we care about so dearly. It was truly dreamlike. Though our guest count was 150 people, the atmosphere felt intimate and sweet, which was our biggest hope as we planned the wedding.

Blake and I got engaged in May 2015 and decided a long engagement was best given our busy schedules. It was the absolute best decision and gave my mom and I time to plan the wedding together. Though planning a major event with hundreds of people in attendance is quite an undertaking, my biggest piece of advice to those planning a wedding with their mom is to relish in that precious time spent together. I know wedding planning can be overwhelming and stressful at times, but remind yourself to enjoy the journey and know that these moments are fleeting. I was and still am so appreciative for the incredible amount of time and effort my mom put into our wedding. From meeting with our florist six times, to selecting the wedding cake flavors, to ordering the 13 stunning Joanna August bridesmaid dresses and hand-addressing hundreds of invitations, she was without a doubt the definition of Superwoman. I am so thankful that showing gratitude to her throughout the process made for an enjoyable planning period that we can both look back at fondly.

Another piece of advice I can give bride-to-be’s is to keep the meaning of your wedding at the core of planning. While of course the flowers and décor play their part, what’s most important is the celebration of love and the union of two people. When I would get stressed out, Blake did a great job reminding me what our wedding was about – us. Don’t sweat the small stuff (I promise it will come together in the end) and remember the purpose of your wedding. Keeping that in mind helped me to stay calm throughout the months leading up to our big day.

When the morning of our wedding finally arrived, we woke up to a feeling of genuine bliss. The sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Before Blake and I parted ways in preparation for the wedding, we took a drive to visit Blake’s mother’s gravesite and take in a calm moment together. I was so fortunate to have known Barbara when we dated in high school, and it was important to us that we recognize her on this monumental day. Her beautiful spirit was all around – from the vibrant sunset during the ceremony, to the breeze amid the trees and the single pink rose that Blake held in her honor as he walked down the aisle, she was certainly with us and so proud of Blake.

The bridal party arrived in the early afternoon to start getting ready at the estate adjacent to Villa Del Lago pavilion. I surprised everyone with the cutest floral robes by Plum Pretty Sugar and Blake’s cousin kindly kept restocking pink champagne for everyone as we got our hair and makeup done. We definitely felt like princesses – it was so much fun! I rarely have my makeup done professionally, but Monica at NAAVA Salon gave me such a gorgeous, natural yet enhanced look for the wedding. I liked a darker lip with full lashes and she achieved it perfectly! My glamorous hair (that stayed put all night!) was beautifully styled by Shannon at West End Salon. These ladies were a glam squad dream team!

Guests arrived to the outdoor venue greeted by chilled wine, a string quartet and a stunning lounge area outfitted by Loot Vintage. I about died when I saw that striped and gold sofa back during the planning period, and knew immediately it had to be at the wedding! It effortlessly exuded that classic, glamorous feel I adore so much.

As the sun was setting, I took my dads’ arm and we walked across the steps and towards the aisle. Blake and I opted not to do a first look, so with tears in my eyes and a heart so full it might burst, I glanced up and we locked eyes for the first time that night. To this day, I have never seen a smile so big on his face. I made my way to him and as we took each other’s hands, he mouthed “I love you so much,” and it was everything I ever wanted in that moment. I was so fulfilled. There we were, those same two teenagers who fell in love nine years ago…all the way to the young adults dressed in a tux and a wedding gown, professing their everlasting love for one another. We’ve changed a lot through the years, but our hearts have always remained connected.

What a feeling it is to promise your love to someone, surrounded by the people who matter most to you. Just like love, it’s not something to be described, it’s something to be felt.

The Perfect Wedding That Almost Didn’t Happen

For starters, this gorgeous wedding…well, it almost didn’t happen. Just 8 days before they were set to tie the knot, Becca and Seth got word their venue couldn’t accommodate them due to unforeseen weather issues. Becca’s response? “As long as I get to marry Seth, I’ll be happy.” They quickly pulled together a plan B with their planner Lindsey Zamora and the result is the perfect outdoor celebration captured by Kristen Kilpatrick.

From Lindsey Zamora, the wedding designer… Becca and Seth are one of the sweetest couples I have had the pleasure of working with. I have known Becca for several years from the wedding industry and was so honored when she hired me to design her destination wedding! Becca and Seth settled on the Texas Hill Country and wanted a day that was timelessly romantic with an organic feel. Our team was so graciously welcomed by Pilot Knob Vineyards when we were unable to have the wedding at a private residence as originally planned due to weather. It was such a great reminder of what a wedding really is- “As long as I get to marry Seth, I’ll be happy” were Becca’s words over and over as we pulled together to come up with new floor plans, worked through new logistics and let the guests know of the new location.

The vineyard overlooked the native Texas agriculture’s rolling hills, cacti and wildflowers which ended up being the perfect backdrop for the wedding. One of my favorite memories was the thank you speech given by the couple under the Texas sunset and then later dancing their first dance under festoon lights as their family and friends gazed upon them. Everyone involved was so gracious, welcoming and hardworking to pull off a beautiful day. It was such a beautiful evening and we were lucky to be part of it!

From the Bride… Our day almost didn’t happen. We received a call eight days before the wedding that the original location we wanted to use had been rained out and couldn’t accommodate a wedding due to wet soil. I think I panicked more inwardly than outwardly, but a part of me thought we would have to cancel our wedding. Luckily, a dear friend posted to social media about the dilemma and our vineyard venue was found and booked!

Seth and I are high school sweethearts and dated for seven years before he proposed, in one of our favorite parks where we used to have anniversary picnics. I don’t remember a thing he said, because the whole moment was there and gone in the blink of an eye, but I do remember knowing, without a doubt, that he was my person and I couldn’t say anything but a tearful and joyful “yes!”

When it came to the wedding, we knew we wanted an intimate, romantic, outdoor wedding, with amazing food, great music, and our closest friends and loved ones to feel relaxed enough to enjoy themselves. We chose a color palette of blush, gold, ivory, and touches of green through greenery. I decided on a custom dyed, blush Leanne Marshall gown. I was inspired by the pink and rose gold tones in my engagement ring and I also knew that didn’t see myself in a white or ivory gown. Lindsey fully understood and executed our vision for the day beautifully. With understated florals, soft touches of ivory fabric, and romantic and elegant touches of candlelight in our beautiful tablescape.

Aside from how beautiful our day was, my favorite parts were our first look, ceremony and vows. Seth and I both grew up very close with our grandparents. His grandfather, whom I never met, but I know Seth adored, passed away suddenly several years ago. Seth was given a shirt of his to keep, but he never knew what to do with it. One day, while cleaning the garage, I saw it sitting in plastic and I knew exactly what to do. I secretly took the shirt to my seamstress and had her create a pocket square out of it.

During our first look, I gave it to Seth as a way to have his grandfather close to him on the wedding day. He knew exactly what it was and proudly wore his pocket square. Even writing this makes me cry all over again, but that moment was priceless on our day. Seth and I chose to send our officiant 10 things we loved about one another, for her to read and us to hear for the first time during the ceremony. We also wrote and read our own vows, which meant the world to hear and know that our love was so much stronger eight years later.

After the ceremony, we ate with friends and family, danced our first dance to “You Make it Real” by James Morrison, and had the time of our lives. Reliving our wedding day through photos and reading our vows, which now hang on our living room wall, will never get old!

Classic American-Mexican Affair with To-Die-For Bridal Portraits

I think you’ll agree that among all of the breathtaking captures of this day by Ben Q Photography, the bridal portraits shine through the brightest. See? Eliza and Dan, you are striking—from the first look and leaving the ceremony to the first dance and the cake cutting (oh hey, Sugar Bee Sweets!), their love glows. Pin-worthy gallery? To say the least.

From the Bride… Dan and I met in New York City in the summer of 2013, while working together in the fashion industry. He proposed in January 2015 in Monterrey, Mexico, the city where I was born and raised. We decided to have a long engagement and take our time to plan our wedding since we could not decide on a location: beach or city in Mexico, New York City? We saw several options but none of them fully convinced us. A few months later, life took us to Dallas. We fell in love with the city and decided to have our wedding in our new hometown.

Since day one we knew we wanted to embrace both of our cultures and have a wedding with the best of Mexican and American traditions, resulting in a classic yet modern wedding. The traditional Mexican ceremony took place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and our reception was held at Arlington Hall at Lee Park. We loved these locations because of their architecture, views and that elegant, timeless vibe they both exude. Working with our wedding planners, Elizabeth and Amanda at After Yes, Dan and I were solely involved in every aspect of the planning and decision making, which made it so much fun and made our wedding day truly ours. We decided on a day wedding and chose light colors: mostly white, ivory and shades of light peach, as well as lots of greenery and marble accents for floral and decor.

We both agree that our favorite moment of the day was when I walked down the aisle. It was an indescribable moment when so many emotions met. After so many months of waiting, I was nervous to see him and had butterflies in my stomach, just like I did on our first date.

Our advice for future brides and grooms: Make it a point and remind each other to enjoy each second of your wedding day. We will forever cherish and are so grateful for the moments we got to share with our families and closest loved ones, in what will always be one of the most special days of our lives.

You’re Going to Lose It Over this Bride’s Stella York Wedding Dress

This wedding day is like a perfect puzzle, assembled fully in all it’s beauty. Every detail flows seamlessly to the next—but the Bride? Oh, does she steal the show. Donning a Stella York number that boasts the prettiest intricacy and carrying the most beautiful bouquet crafted by Lovely Leaves, she is timeless. From Lovely Leaves… Canyonwood Ridge is a new Hill Country venue situated atop a ridge wrapped in oak trees with scenic hill country views. We were thrilled to design florals for one of the first weddings there. The venue was designed specifically for weddings and couldn’t be more dreamy. It boasts a gorgeous chapel perfect for indoor ceremonies and the floor to ceiling windows offering romantic sunlight that would steal any bride’s heart. The space is spectacular for film images like these beauties from Emilie Anne Photography. The dramatic views and Hill Country elegance are awe-inspiring attributes yet the venue maintains a balance of simplicity to set the tone for a romantic Hill Country wedding.

The florals were a lovely mix of burgundy dahlias, deep red peonies, peach Juliet garden roses and lush eucalyptus spread throughout the space. The bouquets were my favorite. She selected a beautiful slightly over-sized design overflowing with silver dollar. Adrianna’s stunning lace Stella York gown was absolutely enchanting. She and Preston were one of the sweetest couple’s we had worked with all year and we could not have been more excited for them.

From the Bride… We wanted our wedding to be simple but romantic to showcase the love and commitment we were vowing to make that day but still represent who we were as a couple. Our wedding inspiration came from our relationship, starting with the date we got married on. Eight years ago on October 21st was the day Preston and I met in high school. We have been together ever since so what better day to start the next chapter of our lives together. We envisioned the wedding to be located in the hill country of Dripping Springs. We came across our venue Canyonwood Ridge before it was even built and we both fell and love with the plans they had for the place. The custom made wood trusses and unique light fixtures were just a couple things we loved about the venue. However it was the scenic view and all the beautiful windows surrounding the venue that won us over. I knew I wanted neutral colors to cater to the simplicity I was looking for. With Preston’s favorite color being burgundy and my obsession with gold, they just happened to be the perfect pops of color for our fall date. It was the little details of our wedding that made it perfect to us. From tying a fisherman’s knot in our unity ceremony (Preston loves to fish), to the perfect romantic touch of lace on my Grandmothers veil that matched with my dress beautifully. Preston and I have always had an interest in cars so it was never a question that my grandpas gorgeous classic Chevy Belair would be a part of our special day.

When You Own a Coffee Shop Your E-Sesh is Really, Really Cute.

Georgette and Brian, you two are THE cutest and I’m completely obsessed with your entire engagement session. Really, does it get any cooler than a coffee shop (of which you own) love sesh? I think not. Followed up by snuggling in the prettiest of fields with a fluffy white pup… can’t. even. See the entire gallery of gorgeous crafted by Sophie Epton in The Vault!

From Sophie Epton… When Georgette and Brian told me the concept for their engagement shoot, I was so ecstatic! These two are the coolest, so I knew their engagement was going to be just as spectacular. Brian owns the most adorable coffee shop in San Antonio (and had been running it for six months!) and so it was truly fitting that we started our session there. It was such a joy-filled, fun shoot; I photographed as Brian whipped up lattes and snuggled with his future bride amongst the roasted beans and copper coffee machines.

A week later, we all traveled over to Driftwood to one of the most fantastic Hill Country venues- the Greenhouse at Driftwood. Georgette and Brian dressed up for the occasion (in suit and the dreamiest of blush BHLDN dresses) and they even brought their sweet pup, Peanut, along for the ride. We hiked amongst rocky terrain over to the most magical river, danced in the glowing grass fields at golden hour and even had a chance to go inside the infamous cacti greenhouse at the venue. It was so amazing to combine these two concepts and looks into one incredible, personal engagement session that truly showcases these two as a couple and their journey together.

From Lindsey Brunk… Inspired by the warm colors of Autumn paired with gilded accents, this creative collaboration with Charla Storey was the perfect blend of simplicity and decadence. A hidden garden in the middle of downtown Dallas, Nasher Sculpture Center, created the perfect backdrop for our vision. Pollen Events created lush and overflowing arrangements in delicate pinks and warm autumn hues.

Our bride wore an enchanting gown by Galia Lahav Haute Couture made of embroidered french lace and our bridesmaids perfectly complimented her look in dusty pink gowns from BHLDN. Staying away from tradition greys and navy, our groom was outfitted in a slim fit chocolate brown suite. Other details of the day included treats topped with edible flowers, a custom leather escort card display, and one-of-a-kind engagement ring by Susie Saltzman.

From the photographer, Kayla Barker… It’s not every day that one of your childhood best friends gets married. When my long time friend, Leah got engaged to the love of her life, Taylor, I couldn’t have been more excited for her! Leah had always envisioned a plantation style wedding with her love of the south and it’s southern traditions and romance, so Kendall Plantation outside of San Antonio, Texas was the perfect setting for all their Texas family and friends to gather together. She brought on Mayhar Design to help with the creative direction, design and styling and Sweet August Events to coordinate the day.

Mayhar Design wanted to help design a space that welcomed dear friends and wedding guests with charm, classical elegance and thoughtfully curated details. Her goal in the design process was to honor and embrace the ideals, traditions and romance of the south. Linens, florals, finishes and details were all selected specifically in complement to the striking white panels and porches and crisp black shutters of Kendall Plantation. The softest shades of ivory and blush were introduced through cocktail linens and blooming florals by Sprout as a nod to Southern grace and style. Custom wedding cake cookies were made special by Leah’s mom, Robin and packaged as a favor for guests. Guests could also enjoy a southern signature cocktail and pick from one of the five different cakes by Bird Bakery that were displayed with beautiful calligraphy signage by Whitney Farnsworth.

Leah had always wanted me to be a bridesmaid and enjoy her wedding day and for me to not feel like I was working. But for me, photographing a wedding is one of my greatest joys and I couldn’t have imagined not photographing her special wedding day. So after some discussion, we formed a plan that would still allow me to photograph the wedding and stand by her side as a friend. I couldn’t have done it without the help of my biggest supporter and favorite second shooter, my husband, Clint and our friend and fellow film photographer, Erica Schneider who both helped shoot parts of the wedding I couldn’t. I also had lots of help from Mayhar Design who was styling details and making sure everything was ready to photograph with extra time for me to also be by Leah’s side as a bridesmaid. Leah and Taylor’s wedding was a special one that I will always cherish being a part of and capturing!

The Bouquet (+ Inspiration Sesh) of Your Dreams

Lovely Leaves has done it again, and this time it’s in the form of a stunning inspiration sesh that seriously won’t quit with the prettiness. From the beautiful captures from Dani Cowan to those watercolor invites from Studio W Designs to your new fave bouquet (seriously), it’s an amazing ode to yellow that you have to see. Head to THE VAULT right this way.

From Lovely Leaves… The yellow dahlias caught my eye and I knew we had to do something with them which led into this gorgeous day. The Phoenix Ballroom is perfect for any season, as are the bright lovely yellows paired with beautiful peach and creams which pop throughout this ballroom wedding inspiration.

The Phoenix boasts stunning backdrops including a rich nude wall, a massive brick fireplace and sweet greenery growing up the outer brick. The wrought iron chandeliers are an added bonus. Tying in with the wooden chivari chairs we incorporated wicker chargers, a basket for boutonnieres, a vintage wooden table and a grapevine wreath. For fabrics, we wanted to stay neutral with sheer voile and soft beige linen.

The gorgeous two-piece gown featured lace long-sleeved top nice for the currently cool Texas temperatures and a cream crepe skirt. Simple makeup showcasing her natural beauty and a loose updo were exactly what we imagined. Amber candles created ambiance in an already-sunlit space. Lily’s Cakes designed a soft buttercream cake paired with a smaller naked cake for the occasion which were accented with peach Campanella roses and yellow ranunculus. Arrangements featured the yellow dahlias of our dreams, the Campanella roses, ranunculus, jasmine, ivory astilbe and spray roses, rich peach amaryllis, Queen Anne’s lace and precious chamomile.

Studio W is my all time fav for stationery and she designed gorgeous watercolor menus and a matching stationery suite. Film was the only way to go and Dani Cowan never fails to impress; it seemed like forever before the scans came back, but so worth the wait. Our final setting was about a block away from the ballroom where so many of our brides go for portraits. The Waco Suspension Bridge is a local monument just minutes away from Baylor University and the Magnolia Silos. The bridge and surrounding areas feature romantic stone arches, walls of lush greenery below and the smooth Brazos River. The entire area makes you want to fall in love.

Rustic Elegant Texas Wedding Full of Love

While they may have crossed paths years ago in the military, it wasn’t until they had a second chance at love and life that they really were able to kick off their happily ever after. So, full of gratitude and love, these two said “I do” and celebrated with a rustic, elegant Texas affair, coordinated by Emily Leach, and captured by Julie Wilhite. From Julie Wilhite… Jennifer and Tim met while both working at the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization dedicated to providing unique, direct programs and services to injured service members. When Jennifer moved from Florida for the job, she vowed to remain single for at least a year in her new city. Yet two months later, she found herself on a first date with Tim. Charmed, she quickly changed her mind about staying single and they have been inseparable ever since.

They realized that they shared many similarities and experiences, both personally and professionally. They were even deployed overseas at the same time and they often ponder if they ever crossed paths, as she was a flight medic and Tim was severely injured just three weeks before coming home from his seven month deployment. Tim was medically retired after losing his left leg below the knee and Jennifer separated from the military after that deployment. Now, ten years and many not-so-happy-ending relationships later – they met one another and the rest is history.

Although they voiced no doubt that their wedding would be both beautiful and fun, they were genuinely most excited for one thing: to be married. They both had nearly lost faith in the idea of settling down based on their past relationship experiences, so they truly feel beyond blessed to have found one another.

As Jennifer says: A wedding is the ultimate celebration of two people overcoming life’s many twists and turns to get to this point. Tim came very close to losing his life, so this wedding is a time for us to reflect on the blessings of each other and, in a sense, second chances.

They didn’t necessarily have a theme; but more of a focus on gratitude, love, and celebrating their union wholeheartedly. Their outdoor celebration was many things, although heartfelt, beautiful and simple are the words that come to mind. The wedding took place in the scenic Garden Grove just outside of Austin, Texas. The design was kept soft and natural with romantic, feminine touches throughout the details. Lush florals in a range of neutrals including cream, beige, and blush were accented by bold plum and hints of seasonal fall foliage. Wood accents and a feminine color palette carried through into the stationery and signage. The party was all housed under a whimsical canvas tent illuminated by string lighting that has us swooning still! Their guests were a riot, speeches and music performances shot straight to your heart and the details were not to go unnoticed. Beyond the signage, our favorites were the laser cut name cards, gold flatware + celebratory favors!

All vendors involved can attest that they are truly the sweetest couple. It was our pleasure to make their special day everything they dreamed of!

From the Bride… Our inspiration came from our venue The Laurel, which has a hill country elegance and charm. I have always loved the hill country look and it was amazing to have it available in the heart of Dallas! We were inspired by the limestone, hearty plants (rosemary, succulents, etc.) from that area; so many of those elements were tied into different aspects of the ceremony and reception.

My mom, grandmother, and I did quite a bit of DIY work. I made the hangers for my bridesmaids, while grandma and mom made the robes! Our favors are also very personal because they are very Italian, where I studied abroad recently. Will and I have been making limoncello for the last few months. We bottled those in the traditional (but smaller) swing top bottles exactly like you see in Italy. We also made little biscotti to give out, one the traditional almond cantuccini, and one more modern version which was a chocolate flavor!

From Allen Tsai Photography… Emily and Will were the dream couple to work with their on wedding day! Some of you might feel that Emily looks familiar and that’s because I was fortunate enough to photograph her in Tuscany recently, which was featured on Style Me Pretty’s Destination Blog! Her beautiful invitation suite was designed by her father, who is a graphic designer, and was perfectly paired with gold calligraphy from Scribbles and Swirls. I really loved her floral design by The Backyard Bouquet which was bright, colorful, organic, and free flowing.

A Darling Bakery-Set Engagement

This bride and groom-to-be are officially the cutest. They celebrated their upcoming nuptials over croissants and coffee, followed by a change of dress code for formal portraits under the Texas sun. Elan Makeup Studio worked her hair and makeup magic while Allen Tsai Photography captured the fun all along the way.

From the Bride…Our story began at Crossfit. It took about 2 months for Albert to finally muster the courage to ask me out, but it only took one date for us to become inseparable. Since then, our life has been a whirlwind of adventures, from music festivals to scuba diving in Costa Rica, and yet the best adventure was yet to come.

Each month on our anniversary, Al would always send me flowers. So when they arrived, it wasn’t out of the ordinary except for the card, which had hinted we were going to dinner and the theater. So that next night he took me to Uchi, where we’d had our very first date. On the way to the “show,” he pulled in front of Addison airport and surprised me with a sunset helicopter ride over downtown Dallas. When we landed and were about to walk inside, he grabbed my hand, dropped to one knee and asked me to be his wife. And it’s still the best day of my life.

So when it came time to plan, we knew we wanted it to be intimate, simple and elegant which is why we chose our venue, Summerfield at Tate Farms due to it’s wild beauty and rustic feel. We wanted our photos to emulate our overall theme as well, which is why we decided on more intimate settings such as the coffee shop and where we will actually say I do. When it came to the outfits, we wanted to keep them classic, yet fitting for each location. We chose darker tones for the coffee shop to play off of the wood in the store, and then contrasted the field with more formal wear.

Now aside from the standard hand on the hip, our photo shoot posing skills were rather subpar. But through every step of the way, Allen provided continuous instructions and directions that made it look like we actually knew what we were doing. The beauty and love that he was able to capture in his photos are everything and more that we were hoping for.

When putting together our “dream team,” as we like to call them, we needed those who were able to bring our thoughts and ideas to life. We’ve been fortunate enough to work with such talented individuals along the way, from the custom design of my engagement ring with Shapiro Diamonds, the look and feel of my wedding with Keestone Events, and our absolutely gorgeous photos from Allen Tsai. We are looking forward to seeing everything come together for the big day!

All Engagement Shoots Should Have Donuts + Coffee!

Donuts and coffee make my world go round and it’s nice to know I’m not the only one. Dana Fernandez captured these cuties and their personalities to a tee – complete with a picnic full of glazed treats and hot drinks. There may not be snow on the ground (in these pics or even out my window) but this kind of coziness is getting us in the spirit of the season like no other! See it all in our Vault right here!

From the Bride-to-be… A huge part of Matt and I’s relationship has been drinking coffee, talking, and eating dessert.

On our first date, Matt took me on a picnic next to a beautiful lake in Dallas. We ate desserts and laughed, and it was the sweetest start to a relationship.

When he asked me to marry him, he set up a blanket in a park with tons of flowers, and we drank champagne and day dreamed about the future, and it was perfect.

Matt is grounded and authentic. He is constantly encouraging me, pursuing my heart, and loving me well. He is logic and numbers, while I am emotions and creativity. I love our relationship, and the way our personalities fit together (and the ways they don’t!).

When we planned our engagement shoot with Dana and Josh, I wanted to find a way to make it feel like me and Matt. Not fake or uncomfortable – just us. So we decided to have a picnic, just like our first date, just like when we got engaged.

I was actually nervous when we were getting ready for our engagement photos. But when when snuggled up on a picnic blanket with coffee in hand, it just felt like us: comfortable, safe, and right.

Matt and I fell in love with Dana and Josh’s photography right away, because it feels like art. Choosing them as our photographers was the first decision we made about our wedding. We love the images they captured at our engagement shoot!

A Modern, Minimalist Barn Wedding

Let me just say, this isn’t your average barn wedding. It’s a rustic, Texas-set celebration that took a “less is more approach” for a minimalist look we absolutely love. Their venue, an all-white barn with stunning windows and natural light galore, was pretty much a photographer’s dream and you can see the results from the lens of Jessica Gold.

From the Bride…When we started planning our wedding, I knew we wanted an organic, natural and simplistic theme. We found the White Sparrow Barn and it was everything I imagined and more. Having the all-white background made the decoration process easy. It was like having a blank canvas. Not only did we go with the natural style we originally wanted, but minimal decoration was needed with a venue that gorgeous. We decided to go with neutral colors – light grey for the bridesmaids and charcoal for the groomsmen. Color was minimal with pops of pinks, wine red, and gold in the florals and of course, lots of greenery.

My favorite moment from the day was hands down our first look! We went back and forth whether being traditional or doing a first look was right for us and for our day. Looking back, we are both so glad we decided to share a first look. There is something so intimate and special with the first time you see each other on the wedding day; we wanted to have that moment just be the two of us. And I mean come on- first look’s make STUNNING pictures! We were able to have some time together before the ceremony to see each other, share happy tears, read through our vows and calm each other’s nerves. When we shared with others about our first look plans, we got the response of ‘isn’t that going to ruin the moment when you walk down the aisle?’ It totally doesn’t! In fact, it made the remainder of the evening all the more better. First looks aren’t for everyone but they are totally worth thinking about!

The most important thing we wanted for our wedding was just to enjoy the day and have time to spend together. While planning, so many people told me ‘you won’t even have time to eat your cake’ or ‘you’ll be talking to your guests instead of enjoying yourself.’ I didn’t want this! My husband and I set our priorities for our wedding day ahead of time, which turned out to be really beneficial. Our main priority was to meet with our guests at the very beginning of the reception so we could spend the remainder of the night on the dance floor with our friends and family. Our day was exactly what we made it and we wouldn’t have done it any other way.

My advice for the future bride is three things. 1. Trust your vendors. Choose vendors that match your style and let them do their part of the work! 2. Ask questions. Planning a wedding is hard work! Ask your vendors questions, even if it doesn’t pertain to their specialty. My photographer, Jessica, introduced me to vendors, helped plan the timeline of our wedding day, and joyfully answered countless emails about general wedding day questions. 3. ENJOY YOUR WEDDING DAY. Once your day hits, take a deep breath and know that everything is going to run smoothly. Spend time with your family, friends and most importantly, your husband. When you look back, you are only going to remember the sweet moments, the happy tears, the fun and the joy of a new marriage.

A Classic Southern Affair Filled with Elegant Details

When it came time to plan their big day, (familiar faces) Ana and Tim had one goal in mind. That being? A glamorous winter wonderland that their guests would remember forever. And we’ve got to hand it to them because mission totally accomplished. From the candle-lit reception to the personalized slippers guests were given to dance the night away, Jacqui Cole Photography captured it all to share in The Vault!

From Jacqui Cole Photography…You may remember Ana and Tim from their engagement session featured here on SMP. Ana met Tim, a professional tennis player, at the Four Seasons Resort while Tim was in town for a tennis tournament. The couple wed 2 years later at the exact spot which they had fell in love.

Ana and Tim wanted to capture a glamorous winter wonderland at the Four Seasons venue. They wanted to create an evening that all of their guests would remember. The many ‘wow’ factors certainly achieved that! From a surprise mariachi band, confetti bombs, fireworks show and a late night taco stand the couple created an incredibly fun night for their family and friends. Ana said that “it was a dream come true to see our vision of an elegant, romantic, candle-lit winter wonderland come to life with all our closest family and friends. The whole day is a memory of overwhelming love and happiness”. Guests were treated to little surprises such as personalized slippers to dance the night away and a Mexican candy bar which were a ‘sweet nod’ to Ana’s heritage.

The reception decor was extraordinary, There were no details that were overlooked. From draped columns, floral covered entryways, mirrored facades, flower halos and beautiful centerpieces. Flowers draped everywhere with the focal point being the floral chandelier which hovered over the dance floor. The guests entrance was covered in stunning white flowers. The white roses were suspended from the top of the windows to make it seem like they were floating.

Ana and Tim left hand in hand under an aisle of confetti. They jetted off to Napa to enjoy their honeymoon the very next day. We wish them all the love in the world! Congratulations Mr and Mrs Smyczek!

From the Bride… After the proposal, which you can read all about here, as we began the wedding planning, the first and most important thing for us was the location and venue for our big day. We wanted to get married somewhere that was special and meaningful for us so where better than where we very first met – The Four Seasons in Dallas, which also happens to be my home town and where we got engaged! I’ve always dreamed of having an elegant and romantic wedding with a candle-lit ambiance to create an intimate and cozy feel. The time of year we got married, a chilly November day, was the perfect way to turn my wedding dream into a timeless winter wonderland.

Looking back at our wedding day, my heart is overwhelmed with countless moments but there is one moment that will stay with me forever – my Father-Daughter dance. It started with a tearful slow song and towards the end of the song, much to my fathers surprise, we transitioned to a fun Spanish song with confetti showering the entire dance floor! The confetti was such a special moment, giving my dad and I another moment to celebrate together as we opened up the dance floor for the festivities to begin!

The best advice I can give any bride-to-be would be to enjoy and cherish every moment – from the moment you say “yes!” to the moment you say “I do”. A fun tip for the big day; as Mr. and Mrs., take a moment to look around at your reception, to embrace how the vision of your big day all came together and to see all of your loved ones together in one place celebrating you!
