Vibrant Fiesta Vow Renewal (Taco Truck Included)

When this fun-loving couple decided to renew their vows on their 10 year anniversary, they wanted to plan a celebration that paid homage to their wedding, included the bride’s heritage, and incorporated their love as a couple for Mexican cuisine and culture – so naturally, they landed on a fiesta! With the planning and styling help of Two Be Wed and the crazy talented floral arranging skills of Flower Power Productions, the bride (half of the duo behind Mustard Seed Photography) created a vibrant celebration filled with Mexican touches including churros, tequila tasting, a cigar bar, a taco truck, and so much more! Hello, best day ever. Captured by Paloma Blanca Fine Art Photography, this is a gallery that cannot be missed.

From the Bride… When Derek and I got married 10 years ago, we were young 21 year old college kids eager to spend the rest of our lives together. I won’t say we rushed the wedding, but I will say he proposed in June and we were married by September. All the formalities of weddings just weren’t our thing then, so we decided to do a quick ceremony at our favorite art gallery in San Antonio, had a friend shoot the big day, and celebrated with about 40 close friends and family at our favorite Mexican restaurant. We honeymooned in Mexico City – it’s full of vibrant colors and art, music and fun.

The next few years of our lives were a whirlwind! As we passed our nine year anniversary, we knew we wanted to do something special for the big 10, but we weren’t sure what. We talked about how we could pay homage to our love story, somehow including my Mexican heritage and our love of the Mexican culture, and it was then that we decided on a fiesta.

If 10 years of marriage has taught us anything, it’s that above all else, you have to focus on what matters to you most – so we ran with it! Being in the wedding industry, I contacted some of my closest friends to help me put my ideas into motion. We brought on an incredibly talented florist, known for his unique and vibrant designs, and a styling/planning company who always puts together the most creative and well-thought out weddings. Together they created something magical – like a fiesta, but even better. The celebration was filled with unique design elements and lots of fun stations for our guests to enjoy: churros, tequila tasting, a cigar bar, and so much more! It took my husband just over a month, but he personally made all the wooden signage for each station AND did the calligraphy! Yes, I know he’s amazing. Instead of a traditional seated dinner, we had a food truck come from one of our favorite restaurants.

Instead of a traditional ceremony, we did a special vow exchange. We had a mariachi band play during our guests’ arrival and were then introduced to our friends and family. We went straight into our vow exchange, with our guests circling all around us. I have never felt so connected to those who mean everything to me. We sobbed during our vow renewal and heard our guests crying happy tears too. We made sure to incorporate our eight-year-old daughter by giving her a beautiful Mexican necklace. As we kissed and danced, our guests all shook maracas. It was so magical and fun!

It was without a doubt one of the best nights of my life and the perfect complement to our wedding. We have SO many gorgeous photos documenting the day, taken by my best friend (and partner at Mustard Seed), Alicia Pyne, who shoots film under her brand Paloma Blanca Fine Art. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate our anniversary!

After 10 years of marriage, we have learned that it isn’t always easy. There will be hardships and there will be tough times, but overcoming those hardships together as a couple is what makes a marriage worth it all – to know that you will still be able to stand across from the one you love and come out on top. Make time for each other above all else because after the wedding day is over and the honeymoon has come to an end, work will get busy, days will seem shorter, and on the really hard days you may even forget the “whys” of marriage. Keep your love close and never forget that the two of you are what matters the most. And most importantly, be best friends! Laugh together often and always find ways to keep having fun with one another. Even on our worst days, I can always count on my husband to put a smile on my face!

Rustic Lakeside Backyard Texas Wedding

When I was putting together these photographs, I began looking for what we always look for…details. And indeed the details are lovely. But what I ended up with, were the people. The madly in love, glowlingly gorgeous bride and groom. They make me happy. And after reading the bride’s story (they actually exchanged vows in private, while their family watched from afar) you can see just how happy they make each other. And thank you Jessica Gold Photography for shooting it so beautifully. More here + lots of cute details!

From Jessica Gold PhotographyThis wedding is so comforting and heart-warming! Let’s begin with the setting, Lauren and Josh decided to get married at her mom’s house, lakeside on the boat dock. The reception took place in the backyard, under the trees and cafe lights at night. It was a beautiful spring day in March, and as the sun was setting over the lake, the setting couldn’t have been more romantic.

I love the non-traditional aspects of Lauren’s wedding. The main one being her ceremony. Other than her officiant (and the photographer), she only wanted her and Josh on their dock. They weren’t even miked! They wanted their wedding vows just to be the two of them, just heard by each other. The guests got to watch from the backyard while Lauren and Josh shared their intimate ceremony upon the boat dock.

The florals were a neutral palette of whites, creams, greens, and succulents. Lauren wanted an organic color palette to compliment the setting of her mom’s backyard, which also tied into the reception decor. As for the decor, Lauren and Josh wanted to give their guests the opportunity to enjoy and scenery and the essence of their setting. The tables laid out across the backyard were decorated with rustic and organic centerpieces adorned by wood pieces, succulents, greenery, and lanterns. Along the edge of the lake were lines of lanterns, and by nighttime, they lit up to give the setting the romantic feel it deserved. To top it off, Lauren and Josh had mini cupcakes for their guests to enjoy at the reception.

All in all, Lauren and Josh wanted a wedding day that reflected their personalities, and their perfect non-traditional wedding was one for the books!

From the Bride… Even after 10 years of dating, Josh and I still knew we wanted it to feel like it was different and only ours. We felt like something laid back, inviting, and outdoors perfectly described us. We chose my parents’ house on Lake Conroe as the picture-perfect venue, as we had spent some amazing summer days on the lake and couldn’t get enough of the sunsets. We wanted everyone to feel like they were in their own backyard, and to feel relaxed, and more like they were at a party than a wedding. We didn’t have a lot of traditional aspects, but we chose the things that meant the most to us.

We chose to have a private ceremony on the dock with one of our best friends officiating. We felt as if these vows were sacred and so meaningful that we should only be saying them to each other. It was such a touching moment to only hear Josh and I and the waves of the lake in the background, while all our friends and family watched from afar.

When I look back on our wedding day, I remember the overwhelming amount of love Josh and I felt the entire day from not only ourselves, but from everyone. We had one of our friends’ record acoustic songs for our ceremony, family that made our white washed bar and custom corn hole game, and had all our best friends help us with the DJ playlist so they were dancing the whole night! We are so lucky to have such an extraordinarily supportive group of friends and family that truly made our day flawless.

My advice for future brides would be to don’t forget to HAVE FUN! I spent most of my wedding on the dance floor with my friends and family. It’s okay to not speak to every single person on your wedding night. I also credit a lot of the success of our wedding to our amazing vendors. We truly let them have creative freedom and we had faith that they would do what they do best, and I believe this makes for a less stressful experience.

Texas Wedding at Madera Estates from Mustard Seed Photography

Every time I see a Texas wedding like this one from Mustard Seed Photography at Madera Estates I realize I haven’t spent nearly enough time in the Lone Star state. Because this wedding is filled to the gills with details that make my world go round executed in a fashion that makes me realize that Texas Brides know how to plan a wedding. It’s that perfect combination of style and love, and it’s all waiting for you right here.

From Mustard Seed Photography… This is an amazing Texas wedding filled with gorgeous details and an equally beautiful couple! Highlights of this wedding include a villa-inspired venue, muted hues of lavender, blush and green with sparkly accents added here and there. All of the bride’s planning came together to create a truly stunning, yet down-to-earth event. Below are some details from the bride about how this romantic, villa themed wedding came together!

From the Bride… Brian and I almost never met. It was by pure luck that our lives crossed paths one random night in March of 2010. And although he gave me his number with strict instructions to call him, I never called. I couldn’t call because I lost his number! Even I couldn’t believe I did that. I found out later that we were both pretty distraught over the course of events; me, feeling bummed that I might have just let my soul mate slip away, and he, thinking I must’ve never been interested in him. Then miraculously, four days later, we both ended up eating at the same restaurant at the same time. That’s when we met the second time. This time, we left little up to chance; he saved my number into his phone and ended up texting me before I even left the parking lot.

Brian and I envisioned our wedding day to be a whimsical and light-hearted affair with close family and friends. We wanted our guests to feel at ease and comfortable with their surroundings, thus for us, that meant having plenty of outdoor space. We fell in love with Madera Estates’ villa-style design and the gorgeous wooded backdrop that accompanied it.
