In the land of beautiful weddings, rustic meets modern is one of my favorite style combos. There’s just something about mason jars and twine mix and mingling with bold patterns and crazy cool details that makes my heart race… and this gorgeous affair from Lindsey Shea? Amazing. From the Bride… We met at Baylor University where we both attended college. We dated for a few months in college where we were able to get to know each other better. After going out separate ways, Mark moved to Dallas and started his career while I stayed in Waco to finish up school and then later work as an Interior Designer in Waco. At my sister wedding we were able to reconnect and began dating. After just a few months of dating we knew that we would spend the rest of our lives together.
Our inspiration for the wedding was “rustic modern”. The venue we choose was our rustic; it was a ranch with a beautifully stained wooden barn with gorgeous rustic details. I wanted to add a lot of modern so I did gray and white chevron table toppers and runners. We had both stained wooden barn tables and covered round tables with toppers. Our colors were mint and gray with hints of navy to tie in the guys navy suits. Bridesmaids wore gray floor length dresses with mint necklaces from and the flowers girls were dressed in white tutus.
I really wanted a very detail oriented wedding that you could see both of our personalities throughout. The ceremony was held outside overlooking a pond. Baby’s breath wrapped in jute lined the aisles and a grouping of baby’s breath was placed on the ceremony arch. There were 2 groupings of tree stumps with candles bunched by the entrance doors where I walked out.
Guests were welcomed under a pavilion for cocktail hour and hors d’oevres. There were hanging mason jars filled with baby’s breath and candles along the pavilion beams. Guests names and table numbers were written on a large chalkboard near the entrance to the reception; which was a gorgeous barn. We used tree trunk chargers with floral arrangements, mint napkins which were tied together with burlap ribbon and a gray “M” on the front. A gray and white straw completed the look. Take home gifts were mason jar glasses with chalk board labels for the guests to use for whatever drink they preferred.
Another important item placed on the table was a prayer/advice card. We asked every person to write either a prayer or special words of wisdom. The floral arrangements were whites and greens. We wanted the rustic/elegant feel. We used baby’s breath, roses and hydrangeas to complete the look. We also used lanterns to bring in the rustic feel as well as mercury glass to bring in the modern. The bride and mother also wrapped wine bottles with jute for vases used on tables.
After a delicious dinner by Oliver’s Catering, guests were treated to cake and a wide variety of desserts. The bride’s cake was a three tiered Italian cream with cream cheese filling , the groom’s cake was a round chocolate with Oreo filling cake with BU for Baylor. We had a wide variety of desserts including small pies, cake pops, rice crispies, cookies, cupcakes, and much more. We also had a late night Trail mix bar where you could create your own trail mix. The snacks were a perfect blend of sweets for me and salty for my husband.
